John Maine's Met career came to its (probable) end in inglorious fashion, with the 29 year old right hander being pulled from a game after throwing only five pitches over concern about his lack of velocity. It put a cap on what had been at best a forgettable season for Maine which had seen him struggle with his command and ability to pitch deep into games, putting up a line of 1-3 with a 6.13 ERA.
