Found January 18, 2013 on Dodgers Rumors:
Nations announced their preliminary rosters for the World Baseball Classic which is to be held this year before the start of the Major League Baseball season. Six players on the Los Angeles Dodgers’ roster were chosen to play in the World Baseball Classic. Adrian Gonzalez and Luis “Cochito” Cruz will represent Mexico; Hanley Ramirez is slated to play third base for the Dominican Republican; Ronald Belisario will represent his home country of Venezuela; Nick Punto will represent Italy; and relief pitcher Paco Rodriguez will pitch out of Spain’s bullpen. This will be the third appearance for both Hanley Ramirez and Adrian Gonzalez, who have each played in the first two World Baseball Classic tournaments in 2006 and 2009. It will be the second appearance for Luis Cruz who was on the 2006 roster and Nick Punto who appeared on the 2009 roster. As with every WBC, the Dodgers will have the normal concerns of so many players leaving spring training early to join their respective national teams. However, it could have been worse for the Dodgers. Superstars Matt Kemp and Clayton Kershaw are not on Team USA because they are nursing injuries; Kenley Jansen, who was the catcher for the Netherlands national team in 2006 won’t be participating this year after undergoing a heart procedure in 2012. Newly acquired pitcher Hyun-jin Ryu, who represented the silver medal South Korean team in the 2009 Classic will also be skipping this years tournament to get completely acclimated to pitching for his new team in a new country. Dodgers minor league infielder Felipe Burin will also represent his native Panama. Fernando Valenzuela will return as pitching coach for Team Mexico. The Dodgers play Team Mexico in an exhibition game on March 2 in Glendale, Arizona. Their teammates Cruz and Gonzalez will be suited up for Mexico. Dodgers infielder Justin Sellers was arrested for popping wheelies on his motorcycle and then doing even more. Will the team keep him?

Everybody say goodbye to Justin Sellers, who got arrested for being a *******

Justin Sellers, current occupant of the Dodgers 40-man roster, might not have to worry about being on it for much longer, as he was recently arrested by the police (h/t True Blue LA/@dpwtv). Police said Justin Sellers was doing “wheelies” on his motorcycle in a neighborhood near Riva Drive. When officers tried to pull him over, police said Sellers took off. After a short chase...

Los Angeles Dodgers have answers on paper but questions on the field

They blamed it all on “jelling.” The Dodgers embarked upon a flurry of high profile trades in July and August only to fall out of the division race by mid-September and, ultimately, the wild card chase in game 161.  The prevailing theory was that the hastily-put-together improved team, that included stars like Hanley Ramirez and Adrian Gonzalez,  just didn’t have time to...

Dodgers avoid arbitration with A.J. Ellis & Ronald Belisario, sign both to one-year deals

Ronald Belisario & A.J. Ellis have agreed to terms with the Dodgers, thus avoiding arbitration, report Ken Gurnick of MLB.com and Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. Ronald Belisario’s contract is for one-year and $1.45 million, while A.J. Ellis signed on a one-year, $2 million contract. Assuming he can stay clear of trouble, Belisario figures to be a key component of the back-end of...

Making Moves: Peter Moylan & Jesus Flores Sign Minor Deals, 3 More Dominicans Inked

The Dodgers have signed former Braves righty reliever Peter Moylan and former Nationals backstop Jesus Flores to minor-league deals with invitations to Spring Training. Flores has shown enough flashes that he could feasibly challenge for the backup job should Tim Federowicz falter, though he’s almost certainly going to spend the majority of the season in Albuquerque. Moylan figures...

The Los Angeles Dodgers have some notable absences from the provisional World Baseball Classic rosters announced Jan. 17.
