The Mets and their wallets on are on ice A year ago at this time the Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers were in very similar situations. Both clubs were going through some difficult financial times, and we were hearing frequent rumblings about their respective owners having to sell their teams. Fast forward a year, and the Dodgers have been sold for $2 billion, and went on a spending spree. While the Mets received some good news regarding the Madoff case, they are still looking at “bottom end” free agents, according to General Manager Sandy Alderson. The highly publicized Agent Scott Boras is known for his brash tactics when it comes to negotiating big money contracts for his clients. He is also not one to hold his tongue, and says what is on his mind. Sometimes his comments are a little off the wall, but other times they make a lot of sense. Last year at the Winter meetings he was asked some questions regarding the state of the two financially strapped big market teams, the Mets and the Dodgers.
