Found August 10, 2013 on Mets Merized Online:
Well, get used to reading this every time that our star prospect Noah Syndergaard takes the mound — he tossed another five shutout innings tonight. He has now given up just one run in his last 16.0 innings pitched over his last three starts. Wow… Since the Mets are running him out there with an eye on his innings workload, the intent is to keep his pitching schedule regular, but his in-game work limited. He’ll still toss his bullpen sessions and his general workouts, so there’s no big reason to worry. Factoring in the fact that Syndergaard will pitch through the playoffs, he will likely see about a jump of 30 innings or so. But expect around five innings of work each time out from her e on in. In any case, back to Syndergaard’s brilliant performance. For the second straight start, he permitted just two hits and a walk through five innings and allowed no earned runs. The only difference this time around was that he struck out five batters. So his final line was: 5.0 IP, 2 H, 1 BB, 0 ...

Mets Even Thinking Of Trading Wilmer Flores Is Absurd

All of a sudden, I’ve been reading with head-scratching confusion how several bloggers are suggesting the New York Mets trade Wilmer Flores. Why? What good would it serve other than just giving away a prospect? What could they possibly get for him now? Their confused reasoning is since the Mets have few position player prospects they should trade their best one. Yup, makes sense...

Niese Activated, Hefner Option To Triple-A, Could Land On DL

UPDATE! Jeremy Hefner is being optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas, but could be hurt and may end up going on the Disabled List. Jon Niese has been activated and will start today’s game. Sandy Alderson said that Hefner will go to New York to see team doctors said he could end up on DL. He also added that if Hefner checks out medically, the Mets will use him for spot starts… This means...

Niese Returns Triumphantly, Flores Slams First MLB HR In 9-5 Mets Win

Hit em hard, hit em fast… The Mets held to that today and kept the D-Backs at bay the entire game as they flattened Arizona in a 9-5 win. They took the lead early after Paul Goldschmidt booted a grounder with the bases loaded and two out. A routine play that would have ended the inning ended up plating all three runs as the Mets hustled around the bases to score, giving the Mets...

Mets 3B fouls off pitch by throwing bat (Video)

Your browser does not support iframes. New York Mets third baseman Wilmer Flores threw his bat at a pitch, and made enough contact with it to foul it off, during Friday night's game in Arizona. It happened in the eighth inning with one out and runners on second and third. Flores threw his bat at the 1-2 pitch from D-backs reliever Heath Bell, and the desparation move by...

Mets Fight Back Twice, But Lose Via Walk-Off To The D-Backs, 5-4

In a back and forth affair that saw multiple lead changes, some dumb decisions, and a Mets team that continues to show a little heart — they were sent away via a Paul Goldschmidt walk-off home run to start this road trip off with a loss. The Mets came in looking like a team with some momentum behind them, taking the lead in the 4th to break up what began as a pitcher’s duel....

Mets Pitching Prospects All Delivered The Goods Last Night

Wow, what an epic evening for the New York Mets organization as whole last night. If like me, you’re a believer that the road to a championship is paved with elite pitching, Saturday night gave us a glimpse of the greatness that lies ahead for the Mets as their top three pitching prospects were on full display for all to  see and none of them disappointed. On the contrary, Zack...

With Harvey and Wheeler the Future Looks Bright

As Zack Wheeler wrapped up the 10th start of his young and promising career on Saturday night, I was all set to compare his first ten against Matt Harvey‘s until I saw the incredible job that Brian Joura did over at Mets 360. Rather than churn out 500 words to basically say the same thing, I figure you would all be better served by reading what Brian had to say and let him do all...

Flores Homers, Finishes First Week In Majors With Nine RBIs

Congratulations to Wilmer Flores who walloped his first major-league home run on Sunday as the Mets beat the Diamondbacks 9-5. Flores extended his streak to five straight games with an RBI and also tied the franchise record for most runs batted in with nine in his first six major league appearances. It’s shaping up to be one of the best debuts for a Mets position player in franchise...

Meet the Mets: L.J Mazzilli

The Mets selected L.J. Mazzilli in the fourth round of the 2013 MLB Draft. He was recently ranked the Mets 22nd best prospect in MMN’s Mid-Season Top 25. Upon being drafted, L.J told Newsday: “It all seemed to make sense,” said L.J., who played college baseball for UConn. “They say everything happens for a reason, and I feel like this is where I’m meant to be right now...

Mets 9, Diamondbacks 5

Andrew Brown's three-run pinch-hit home run broke open a close game and the New York Mets beat Arizona 9-5 on Sunday. Jonathan Niese (4-6), in his first start since June 20, came off the disabled list to go six innings, giving up four runs and seven hits in his first win since May 16. The Mets took two of three from the Diamondbacks. The Mets scored four unearned runs in the...

You Mad, Bro? “Zack The Snake Charmer” Edition

From SB Nation’s “AZ Snake Pit” Blog: “LOL Mets” “Is this a tetris strike zone tonight?” “Cody Ross would be a perfect and frightening rodeo clown.” “More so than Eric Byrnes?” “Hmmm so which Wheeler is this? Both Good and Evil Wheeler are with the Rockies now. But this Wheeler is a Wheeler of Another Sort.” “Ex-Giant Wheeler” “If only he was still...
