Mets pitcher Johan Santana will make a rehab start for the Brooklyn Cyclones on Sunday, August 5th as the team takes on the Auburn Doubledays at 5:00 PM.
According to Sandy Alderson, Johan will throw no more than three innings. It’s merely a tuneup before rejoining the Mets rotation by next week.
The two-time Cy Young Award winner was placed on the 15-Day Disabled List on July 21st with a sprained right ankle.
In his last major league start before being placed on the DL, Santana threw just 3.0 innings, surrendering six earned runs off seven hits at home against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Santana has made 19 starts for the Mets this season, compiling a 6-7 record with a 3.98 ERA. In 110.2 innings, he has allowed 51 runs (49 earned) off 102 hits with 38 walks and 105 strikeouts.
Oh, and of course he also did this…
