Tony DeMarco of MSNBC wrote a really good piece about the negotiations and why he believes Theo did a great job in bringing Matsuzaka to the Sox. Looking at all the factors, including the current free agent market, the mood in Japan, and the limitations of the bidding situation, Theo played this game perfectly.
Definitely a good explanation of why this was a good deal...certainly a fun read.
