Found April 29, 2012 on Feelin' Kinda Blue:
A.J. Ellis While Jon Weisman at Dodger Thoughts is (rightfully) starting the "A.J. Ellis All-Star campaign," I'm thinking we need to start a "Move A.J. Ellis up in the order campaign," though, it doesn't have quite the same ring to it. But with Dee Gordon's unsurprising early-season struggles, perhaps it's time to shake up the lineup a bit. Don Mattingly has said as recently as Saturday night he's not ready to remove Gordon from the leadoff spot -- yet. "'I could think about it, but then I have to find a guy who can lead off. At this point, I don't feel I need to do a whole lot different.'" It's a valid concern, but like Mattingly, I want to give Gordon a little more time to "figure it out" atop the Dodgers' order. I wrote back in February the Dodgers' success would be tied to Gordon in the leadoff spot (which can be said about a lot of teams). Of course, I don't think we exp...

Coffey Activated From DL, Ready To Jolt Dodger Bullpen

The Dodgers have activated Todd Coffey from the disabled list and he is set to make his return back to the Dodgers bullpen today. Coffey was placed on the disabled list back on April 14th with anterior inflammation in his right knee. At the time Dodgers manager Don Mattingly openly admitted that Coffey could play through the injury if it were later in the season. However, since...

A Topps Opening Day Autograph Is One Of My Rarer Matt Kemp Cards.

Ah, Opening Day, that most glorious of baseball days and most inconsequential of baseball sets. I'm not a big set collector, and I enjoy pulling hits of all kinds, so I have less than zero interest in ever buying the product for myself. However, for less than the price of a blaster (and purchased with Card Draft funds, no less), I couldn't possibly let the below beauty go...

Coffey activated from DL

LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Dodgers Monday reinstated right-handed pitcher Todd Coffey from the 15-day disabled list. Coffey had been on the disabled list with right knee inflammation since April 14. The 31-year-old right-handed reliever has appeared in three games for the Dodgers this season, giving up four runs in 1.0 inning. Coffey pitched for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga in...

My trip to see Dodgers' prospects at the Epicenter was a blast

Eight days ago, I was in Southern California for a journalism conference. While the conference fell flat on its face, my trip to Rancho Cucamonga to see the Quakes did not. Despite the team not playing well, it was a great experience. It was the first time I'd ever received a media credential to cover anything but a college sporting event. I arrived with Jared Massey of...

Bryce Harper’s first hit ruined by fans who mooned the camera

Bryce Harper may have the ball from his first career hit, but the video clip shown on TV is ruined. A couple of kids at Dodger Stadium for the Nats-Dodgers game on Saturday night spoiled Harper’s first hit by mooning the center field camera. Yup, two rascals with a well thought out plan dropped trou as the 3-2 pitch was coming from Chad Billingsley. Harper blasted the pitch for...

Closing of Dodgers sale delayed

Frank McCourt will remain the owner of the Dodgers for at least one more night. The sale of the team was expected to close Monday. However, the hope is that the deal can close on Tuesday, according to two people familiar with the sale process. McCourt has agreed to sell the Dodgers for a record 2.15 billion to Guggenheim Baseball, a group fronted by Magic Johnson and incoming team...

Bruce Harper gets mooned during first MLB hit.

A Dodgers fan put the ass in class Saturday night, mooning Bryce Harper during his first big league hit in the 7th inning (video: a rocket double). Harper did not get mooned while collecting his first Major League RBI in the 9th. Dodgers 4, Nationals 3: Bryce Harper's Hollywood beginning has a bad ending written by Matt Kemp. Strasburg's great night goes up in smoke...

Dodgers Fans Mooned Bryce Harper As He Got His First Major League Hit

Bryce Harper, the Washington Nationals rookie, got his first hit of his Major League Baseball career off of a Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher for a double. Some Dodgers fans decided to moon, not only their pitcher, but also Bryce Harper. Yeah, it doesn’t make sense to moon your own pitcher but the kids look pretty young. This may be the best rookie troll move of all time. We enhanced...

Podcast: 'Dugout Blues' episode No. 4, plus a couple of news items

Sorry for the delay, but Jared Massey and I finally got the latest podcast up. In this edition, Jared and I talk about the Dodgers' week that was, a somewhat resurgent James Loney, some strong minor-league performances and our trip to see the Quakes in person in Rancho Cucamonga. Podomatic link iTunes link ##### The Dodgers optioned Nathan Eovladi back to Double...

Bryce Harper’s Major League Debut was Memorable

[Box Score] [WaPo] [Big League Stew] [DC Sports Blog] [Dodgers Now] I’m happy with what I saw of Bryce Harper’s big league debut. The only at-bat I missed last night was his first MLB hit, a rocket double off the base of the wall that would have been out of most parks. But I saw all I needed to see. The hustle, the look, the grey bat. The incredible bat speed. The rifleman throw...

Closing of the $2.15 Billion Dodgers Sale Delayed

The record $2.15 billion sale of the Los Angeles Dodgers will not close on time. As the clock continues to click, the April 30 date that had been targeted to match a $131 million divorce payment to Frank McCourt’s former wife Jamie will not happen, according to anonymous sources to the Los Angeles Times. McCourt had already got a $140 million “bridge loan” to ensure that if...

VIDEO: Bryce Harper's first MLB hit

In case you weren't tipped off on it enough, Bryce Harper made his Major League debut Saturday night against the LA Dodgers at Dodger Stadium. The game certainly lived up to the marvelous fanfare: Stephen Strasburg threw a gem; Harper played as great as you could ask from a 19-year-old kid in his first big league game; and it all ended with the Dodgers coming from behind to force...

I'll see your Harper and Strasburg with a Bison

Beast mode don't care. #BMDC There are really no words to describe one Matt Kemp. In what might have been one of the best April baseball games in recent memory, Kemp upstaged the Nationals' Stephen Strasburg, perhaps one of the best pitchers in baseball, and Bryce Harper, who was making his Major League debut, by smacking a walk-off solo home run in the bottom of...
