After nearly 3 years of writing about the Cubs, I have reached the decision to call it quits. I am currently working out the arrangements to leave the Yardbarker Network at the end of July.
As many of you may have guessed from my lack of articles lately, my heart just isn't in it any more. Truth is though, my heart never really was fully "in it" to begin with.
For those of you who were around when I originally started writing about the Cubs under the Cubspack blog for the Fanball Blog Network, you may have seen in my "about me" page that I was born and raised as a St. Louis Cardinals fan. Although I like the Cubs and live in the Chicago area, I do not consider myself a Cubs' fan. I just chose to write about them as the Cardinals were already taken.
With that said, I have tried to write about the Cubs from a fans' perspective, but I would guess that some of my Cardinals bias may have come through as well. In any case, I hope you have enjoyed my articles over the years.
I will continue writing the blog through the end of July, so that I can cover the July trade deadline, which I always enjoy covering and should be another interesting one for the Cubs. After that, the blog will remain active, in case I ever feel the need to write about the Cubs again, but I will be focusing my attention on other pursuits.
One such pursuit is writing about my true passion, fantasy baseball. I am currently writing 2 weekly articles for Full Spectrum Baseball, in which I analyze the pitching matchups each week. These will be posted every Saturday (NL) and Sunday (AL) morning.
I also will maintain my recently created MLB Composite Prospect Index site, with semi-annual updates to the prospect listings.
Finally, I may revive my Future Closers blog that had a short-lived existence last year, before other things got in the way or I may combine it and the MLB CPI into one site.
In the meantime, my farewell tour begins....
