There are times when you see a very distinct line drawn in the sand between Mets fans. Often times, both sides misunderstand something about the other side, and things get out of control. People who agree with things Alderson are doing are not tired of the same old tricks that never seem to work in NY, and are not tired of bad contracts and overpaid players underperforming. They are Sandy apologists. People who are not into sabermetrics, or think Brandon Nimmo or Zach Wheeler aren’t good young prospects aren’t old school baseball fans, they are uneducated on the new ways of the game. It’s never going to end. After Alderson, it will be somebody else new. There will always be differing views on how and why certain things need to be done in New York. For me, I don’t apologize for Alderson despite what some of my loyal readers say. I accept Alderson. I accept that for 25 years and almost my entire life, being a Mets fan has been a punch line. I accept that people who root for other team...

Sandy Alderson said today that if the Mets bring in a starting pitcher it will need to be someone who gives them flexibility.  A pitcher who could be in the rotation or a longman out of the pen or someone who could start the year in Buffalo.  A pitcher with experience in both the rotation and the pen, who had options or signed a minor league deal.  Earlier this month it was reported...

Will Mets be the big underdog of 2012?

I'm a sucker for underdogs. Starting with the Sons of Liberty (no, not a sports team, people. Read your history books) to Lawrence of Arabia, underdogs have always captured my imagination. "Breaking Away" is my favorite movie. I'm always the one rooting for the little guy whose chances are slim to none -- and yes, slim just left town. For those of us raised in...

The title of MLB's new International Talent Committee sounds global in scope, but there's no doubt of the central role the Dominican Republic will play in the committee's upcoming discussions about a possible international draft.
