Dodgers Locker:
The Dodgers have placed 31-year old righty starting pitcher Jon Garland on the 15-day disabled list with a right shoulder injury. Garland has pitched in 9 games (all starts) for the Dodgers so far this year and he is 1-5 with a 4.33 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP. 22-year old righty Rubby De La Rosa will take over for Garland in the starting rotation until he’s ready to return to action. De La Rosa has pitched in 3 games (0 starts) for the Dodgers so far and he is 1-0 with a 1.80 ERA and a 0.80 WHIP. He is one of the Dodgers’ brightest prospects, so they hope he’s up to the challenge of being in the starting rotation. 25-year old righty John Ely has been called up to replace Garland on the pitching staff and De La Rosa in the bullpen. Ely started 1 game earlier this year for the Dodgers and he is 0-1 with a 6.35 ERA and a 1.59 WHIP. He has also pitched in 10 games (all starts) in AAA-ball this year and he is 2-3 with a 5.01 ERA and a 1.42 WHIP.
