The Dodgers have placed veteran backup catcher Brad Ausmus on the 15-day disabled list with a pinched nerve in his back. Ausmus has played in 1 game for the Dodgers so far this season and he is 1 for 4 (.250 avg, .750 OPS) with a double. The Dodgers have recalled catcher A.J. Ellis from AAA Albuquerque to replace Ausmus on the roster. Ellis has played in 1 game in AAA-ball this year and he is 1 for 4 (.250 avg, .650 OPS) with 1 walk. Ellis has the reputation of being a good defensive catcher but a light hitter which sounds exactly like Ausmus.
