Agent says Broxton not returning to Dodgers

Jonathan Broxton has ruled out the possibility of re-signing with the Dodgers, according to his agent, BB Abbott. He will not be back in L.A., Abbott wrote in a text message Monday morning. Abbott said his client is close to moving on. He had multiple suitors and we should have something tentative in the next few days, Abbott said. Abbott acknowledged he had conversations with...

Colletti Sticking with Loney in 2012

From @MelAntonen: #Dodgers GM Ned Colletti says on MLB Network Radio that James Loney will be at 1B for LA next season. Says 20-25 HRs possible. Not a real stunner — just more of a confirmation there will be no big free-agent signings for us this off-season. Still, 20-25 HRs? Hasn't that been possible for Loney since he was freed?

Around The Bases: Broxton, Torre, And More

Well we know that Jamey Carroll has moved on to be the starting shortstop for the Twins in 2012. Rod Barajas has moved on as well, as he signed to be the starting battery-mate for the Pirates. Looks like next in line for the mass exodus of Chavez Ravine is non other than the once dominant closer Jonathan Broxton. ESPN's Jerry Crasnick was tweeting earlier this afternoon...

Happy birthday, Mr. Scully

Dodgers Near Deal For Adam Kennedy

Per Tony Jackson, the Dodgers are near to a deal for former Angel Adam Kennedy. It's only surprising because he's not a former Giant. Kennedy hit .234/.277/.355 last season as a mostly-starting infielder at all four positions for Seattle. He's likely to be a bat off the bench for the 2012 Dodgers. An interesting sidebar is that Jackson thinks James Loney will be back...

Jonathan Broxton Won't Be A Dodger In 2012

The Dodgers did not offer salary arbitration by Wednesday night's deadline to any of their seven free agents and will receive no compensation if they sign with another club. They are Casey Blake, Jonathan Broxton, Jon Garland, Hiroki Kuroda, Mike MacDougal, Aaron Miles and Vicente Padilla. Kuroda is the lone ranking player among them, a Type B.

Dodgers not short on options to fill Broxton void

With Jonathan Broxton having departed to Kansas City, the closer shoes left to fill are large in Chavez Ravine, but it's not as if the Dodgers' bullpen is bare when it comes to protecting ninth-inning leads.

Dodgers won't be big spenders at Meetings

In baseball's version of Christmas bargain hunting, Ned Colletti made a flurry of supporting cast signings in November, because that's all the Dodgers can afford. At next week's Winter Meetings, he can't play big spender chasing Albert Pujols and Prince Fielder.

Mets not in on Broxton

Reports indicate that Jonathan Broxton will select his next team within the week, but despite needing a closer the Mets aren't believed to be involved.  The Mets never appeared interested in Broxton and probably his injury history is why. I'm glad the Mets are passing on him, Broxton seems to be an injury waiting to happen...
