You know the prospects for the upcoming season are...interesting...when I decide to start the blog with a quote from Annie. On paper, the Padres don't have a lot of hope for this season. The only thing most of the fans think about the 99 game loss season of 2008 is that they wish it had been 103 so the Friars could draft SDSU phenom Stephen Strasburg.Instead, we have the Three Musketeers and not much else. Really, not many outside the NL West can name a San Diego player after Jake Peavy, Adrian Gonzalez and Chris Young. And most of them can only name Young because of the height of his frame rather than the expectations for his performance. For those of us who remain Friar Faithful despite the lowered expectations, the challenge will be finding the positives in a season expected to set the table for future meals rather than sustain us in the present. And all the Fortieth Anniversary gear in the store won't bring a smile half as quickly as a breakthrough season from Chase Headley or Nick Hundley.
