Found December 12, 2011 on Matthew Cerrone's Mets Blog:
By picking up Jeremy Hefner off waivers today, the Mets announced that their 40 man roster is full. Also, tonight is the deadline for teams to decide whether to cut or keep arbitration-eligible players for next season. Ronny Paulino, Mike Pelfrey and Manny Acosta are all eligible for arbitration. Matthew Cerrone: I’m sure the front office is jamming right now, as they figure out how to make this all work before tonight’s arbitration deadline. Why? Well, they still have to add Jon Rauch and Frank Francisco, who the team reportedly signed last week. I assume they will non tender Paulino and bring back Pelfrey, which brings the 40-man to 39. The Mets could cut Acosta, which, with Paulino’s dismissal, would make room for Rauch and Francisco. However, if they want to retain Acosta, someone else on the roster must go… decisions, decisions.

Jeremy Hefner Claimed By the Mets

The New York Mets have claimed right handed pitcher Jeremy Hefner off of waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates, according to Adam Rubin of ESPN. Hefner was originally acquired by the Pirates off of waivers from the San Diego Padres on November 18th. He was waived last week to make room for Yamaico Navarro on the 40-man roster. Rubin also notes that the Mets have signed left hander...

Mets To Make Move On Ronny Paulino Today

The Mets must make a decision as to whether to tender catcher Ronny Paulino a contract by today's non-tender deadline. As we reported back on November 28th, the Mets are quite displeased with Paulino's poor work ethic and lack of preparation, along with his laziness. If the Mets non-tender Paulino, the Mets catching tandem would most likely be Mike Nickeas and Josh Thole...

Mets Not Expected To Tender Paulino Tonight

Tonight is the deadline for teams to decide whether they intend to tender arbitration-eligible players a contract. If the player is dissatisfied with the contract, the player has the right to go before an arbitrator if the salary is not settled beforehand. The Mets have five such players and they include Mike Pelfrey, Ronny Paulino, Manny Acosta, Ramon Ramirez and Andres Torres...

Decisions on Pelfrey, Acosta & Paulino will be tonight

Tonight is the deadline for teams to decide whether to cut or keep arbitration-eligible players for next season. If the player is non-tendered, he becomes a free agent. If he is tendered a deal, it is essentially a guaranteed one-year contract. However, if he and the team cannot reach agreement on a salary, the player can choose to have that number determined by an arbitrator...

Paulino and Baxter Cut By The Mets

Last night, the Mets non-tendered catcher Ronny Paulino and outfielder Mike Baxter essentially making them free agents. The team’s 40-man roster now stands at 38. Mike Pelfrey, Manny Acosta, Ramon Ramirez and Andres Torres were each tendered contracts and offered salary arbitration. MMO Flashback: 12/13/2010 – It’s Always About The Money

MMO FLASHBACK - DECEMBER 13, 2010 I feel compelled to pen something before the end of this year, although it is a year that we would all like to forget as Mets fans.  We have had almost nothing to brag about during the off-season as fans of the Metropolitans except that we have returning players that may help us before the All Star break and that is not even a guarantee, i.e...

Mets cut Ronny Paulino and Mike Baxter

The Mets cut Ronny Paulino and Mike Baxter tonight (making them free agents), which puts the team’s 40-man roster at 38. The Mets have yet to officially announce the signings of Jon Rauch and Frank Francisco, both of whom will need to be added to the roster – meaning a player will eventually be removed to make room. Matthew Cerrone: Paulino would have likely earned...

Mets Sign A Couple Of Minor Leaguers, Claim Pirates RHP Off Waivers

The Mets have signed left-handed pitcher Garrett Olson and catcher Lucas May to minor league contracts and claimed right-hander Jeremy Hefner off waivers from Pittsburgh. Mets.com has the 411 on them: Hefner, 25, posted a 9-7 record and a 4.98 ERA for San Diego’s Triple-A Tucson affiliate last season, ranking sixth in the Pacific Coast League with 120 strikeouts in 157 1/3...

Mets weighing decision on Paulino

The clock is up on Ronny Paulino. The Mets must decide by midnight ET on Monday night whether or not to offer arbitration to Paulino, who disappointed in his first season in New York.

Two Out of Three Ain't Bad

There were three guys I wanted gone. Sad that our winter checklists these days include who we want gone instead of who we want to arrive. Angel Pagan was one. The other was non-tendered tonight. Now when I hear non-tender I get all tingly thinking it's going to be Mike Pelfrey. Instead, it was the third player on the list: back-up catcher Ronny Paulino. I know for some of you...

Mets Part Ways With Paulino and Baxter

The Mets declined to offer contracts to catcher Ronny Paulino and outfielder Mike Baxter.

Pelf in Met plans

Mike Pelfrey’s win total dropped from 15 to 7 and his ERA rose from 3.66 to 4.74, but the right-hander is still expected to be a Met next season, since the team plans on offering him arbitration. As general manager Sandy Alderson and manager Terry Collins have...
