Tony La Russa's wrongheaded All-Star decisions have unfairly penalized not just R.A. Dickey, but also David Wright, and they have rewarded Giants fans for stuffing the ballot box.Buster Posey did not deserve to start at catcher over Carlos Ruiz and Yadier Molina. But because Giants fans voted Posey in, La Russa names another Giant who shouldn't be starting, Matt Cain, as starting pitcher, citing Posey's familiarity with Cain, as if that was ever an All-Star battery consideration before. At least Posey is having a very good year. Giants fans also voted in Pablo Sandoval at third over Wright, even though Sandoval missed over a month with a broken hamate bone.La Russa had the opportunity to put Wright in the starting lineup as designated hitter, but passed over the Met third baseman for Colorado's Carlos Gonzalez. If Wright ends up playing much of the game at third, the move could make sense. But it would have been nice to see Wright introduced with the starters, as h...

Congratulations to this week’s
MMO Player of the Week…
Through the use of the scorecard, let’s take a look at how David Wright did this week:
Wright showed his power again this week adding two home runs to his spectacular first half putting him at 11 home runs, 59...
One more lineup card for Tony La Russa to fill out. One more chance to put on the uniform.
One more time is enough, too.
The man who went out on top last fall after leading the St. Louis Cardinals to an improbable World Series championship, and now is getting a unique encore, swears he doesn't miss managing. He insists it's a lot more fun watching the game from the stands...
The All-Star Game doesn’t always live up to the hype that comes with a contest between baseball’s best players, but tonight’s event was particularly one-sided, with the senior circuit jumping on top early and rolling to a 8-0 victory.
American League starter Justin Verlander appeared locked in at the start when he struck out Carlos Gonzalez with a nasty breaking ball, but things...
(Eds: With AP Photos.) By JIM LITKE AP Sports Columnist Nice to see retirement hasn't dulled Tony La Russa's competitive edge one bit.
Fewer people than ever care who wins the All-Star game, even with home-field advantage in the World Series hanging in the balance, but he still does. And while La Russa knows absolutely no one tunes in to watch the managers manage, he still...
Carlos Ruiz was selected to be the one to handle the catching duties for knuckleballer R.A. Dickey during the 2012 All-Star game. But to do so, Dickey brought along his own catchers' mitt for Ruiz to catch (pitctured above).
Knuckleballs are highly unpredicable. So much so that Tony LaRussa did not think that Buster Posey of the Giants could handle it. But Chooch could...
Happy All-Star Game, Mets Fans!
Tonight, Major League Baseball’s biggest stars and a bunch of guys from the San Francisco Giants gather in Kansas City for the 83rd MLB All-Star Game. First pitch is scheduled for some time around 8:15 p.m. and the game can be seen on your local FOX affiliate. With Major League Baseball on its All-Star Break until regular season games resume on Friday, Bovada has posted updated MLB player awards props involving the Cy Young and MVP in each league. The Red Sox thought they had two potential Cy Young candidates in the spring in Jon Lester and Josh Beckett, but pitchers have disappointed as Boston was just 12-20 in their 32 starts during...
Mets All Star Knuckleballer appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman last night, and suffice to say, he was a complete success.
Some interesting points RA Dickey brought up was that a lot of the knuckle ball is about reputation. There isn't much respect until you can show that you can throw the knuckler for a strike.
Dickey also said he throws the knuckle ball approximately...
(Eds: APNewsNow. With AP Photos.) By STEPHEN HAWKINS AP Sports Writer Yu Darvish came to America this year with an array of different pitches.
The Japanese ace has already won 10 games for the Texas Rangers with his repertoire of fastballs and breaking pitches.
R.A. Dickey mastered the knuckleball and this season became an All-Star for the first time at age 37.
These days, there...
NY Mets ace RA Dickey appeared on David Letterman last night, giving the host a knuckleball lesson. It pops, doesn't squirt, btw.

Here's what bothers me about R.A. Dickey not starting the All-Star game (other than the fact that he deserved it): This isn't about Matt Cain not deserving the start on his own merits, though Dickey bested Cain in every single category except walks (24-26 for Cain). This is about Tony La Russa, once again, acting like he's smarter than the rest of the world by finding...
Tony La Russa doesn't concern himself with storylines. If he did, he would have chosen New York Mets' knuckleballing sensation R.A. Dickey to start the All-Star Game.
Instead, La Russa picked San Francisco's Matt Cain as the National League starter and created a different theme to the pitching matchup for tonight's All-Star Game (MLB on FOX, 7:30 p.m. ET). The subplot...
Well done Kansas City. Thanks to Chevy "Keys To Your City" (LINK HERE) CardsDiaspora.com was able to go to the crap side of Missouri and take in MLBs 2012 All-Star Game. By now you know that it was like run bukkake for the National League sending former Cardinals skip Tony LaRussa out on top. Again. You know that Billy Butler and Robinson Cano are inexorably connected...
