B-Mets SS Wilfredo Tovar had the eventual game winning RBI on Sunday in Portland
The Binghamton Mets played their final game of the 2012 season at Hadlock Field in Portland, Maine on Sunday afternoon, taking the rubber match by a score of five to three in extra innings over the Sea Dogs. It was the thirteenth time the B-Mets beat the Double A Red Sox in 2012, winning the season series by a 13-6 margin.
Greg Peavey found himself on the mound at the outset for the twenty fourth time in 2012. Peavey, who is four and two with a decision in his last six starts, went seven innings for the visitors. He allowed three runs on six hits while striking out four and walking only one. All of the runs surrendered by Peavey were by way of the long ball off of the same Sea Dogs bat as Jeremy Hazelbaker hit a solo shot in the first inning and two run dinger in the bottom of the third.
