Tampa Bay Rays ace David Price is bothered by recent trade rumors. “I mean, obviously I think about it,” Price told reporters on Tuesday, via ESPN.com. “That’s why I’ve been in a bad mood the last week and a half. I think about it. You guys know that. And it’s nothing I really want to talk about. “I don’t have an answer for you guys. I don’t know where I’m going. I don’t know when I’m going. So there’s nothing I can really comment on.” The MLB trade deadline is July 31, and sources close to ESPN’s Buster Olney have said that the Rays will try to move the former Cy Young Award winner soon. “He needs to feel my support all the time, and I hope he does,” Rays manager Joe Maddon said. “Beyond all that, part of this is it’s a business, and sometimes when you get caught up in the business component, it makes it uncomfortable. … I think part of it’s complimentary. Part of it is disconcerting. I think a guy like him has been through a lot of different moments and always has been able to handle them.” The post Trade rumors putting David Price in a ‘bad mood’ appeared first on Sports Glory.

David Price is on the Trade Block, Like it or Not

With the Tampa Bay Rays owning the worst record in baseball at 32-48, ace pitcher David Price is on the trade block. Despite an ERA that is almost half a run higher than his career average, the 28 year-old left-hander is having his best season yet in more ways than one. After dominating the Pittsburgh Pirates, Price owns a 10.3/1 strikeout-to-walk ratio, which is easily the best...

Evan Longoria jumps into crowd after making great catch

Check out this sequence of events during Evan Longoria’s wonderful catch in the third inning of today’s Pirates-Rays game So, to recap… -Longoria runs from his position at third base to the on-field bullpens halfway up the left field line -He runs over one of the mounds in the bullpen to make the catch -He hangs on to the ball as he’s about to hit the fence -He jumps on...

Rays' David Price not commenting on trade speculation

On the eve of what could be his final home start in a Rays uniform, David Price refused to say anything about the trade chatter swirling around him. Except that he hears it, and he's human. So pondering the potential significance of today's start is only natural, right? "I don't think I'm very natural," the Rays' lone Cy Young Award winner said before...

Rays' David Price dominates Pirates

As endings go, if that's what it was, David Price had envisioned it differently. Given the possibility that Wednesday might have been his last start at the Trop before being traded, the Rays ace had hoped to go out celebrating a complete-game victory, not walking off the mound after allowing a home run and being pulled with two outs to go. But as much as Price was focused...

David Price On Trade Speculation: ‘That’s Why I’ve Been In A Bad Mood’

One of the only downsides of being a professional athlete is trade speculation. Having to hear about possibly uprooting your entire life to another city can’t be fun. David Price has heard a lot of these rumors recently and it’s not exactly making him the happiest of campers. With the Tampa Bay Rays holding the worst record in baseball and Price being one of the highest-paid...

‘Knuckleball Princess’ befuddles Tampa Bay Rays during batting practice (video)

Chelsea’s knuckleball is real. She hit Longo in the back. I loved it. With that pitch & her composure she can compete pic.twitter.com/m91X3rZR3G — Joe Maddon (@RaysJoeMaddon) June 23, 2014 Chelsea Baker, the so-called “Knuckleball Princess,” is a 17-year-old high school pitcher from Plant City, Fla. Her coach just so happens to be Joe Niekro, […] The post ‘Knuckleball...

High school pitcher tosses batting practice to Rays

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Chelsea Baker eyed the three-time All-Star before her, excitement and fear running through her right arm. This experience, throwing to Evan Longoria and other Tampa Bay Rays players in batting practice Monday at Tropicana Field, was beyond anything she imagined. It was a thrill. It was also intimidating. Baker, 17, had beaten fear of the unknown so many times...

Cardinals should resist urge to overpay for David Price

A year ago, just before the non-waiver trade deadline, I wrote something really dumb. Perhaps you remember the column. I know many Red Sox fans do. It began, “The Red Sox should trade their best prospect, infielder Xander Bogaerts, to get Phillies left-hander Cliff Lee.” My argument was that adding Lee would give the Sox their best chance of winning the World Series. And I...

Tampa Bay Rays at Baltimore Orioles series primer

Enjoy him. Capture the image. Savor the sight while you can. It's risky business to forecast baseball's business side, but this much is certain: Preserve the moment of left-hander David Price tipping his cap and waving to the crowd Wednesday at Tropicana Field. Could it have been his last start in the dome wearing a Rays uniform? Could he have walked for a final time from...

Trade rumors have put David Price in a bad mood

“Obviously I think about it; it’s why I’ve been in a bad mood for the past week and a half. It’s nothing I really want to talk about. … I don’t know where I’m going, I don’t know when I’m going, so there’s nothing really I have to comment on.” -Rays ace David Price on the trade rumors surrounding him in recent days (via the Tampa Bay Times)

Pittsburgh Pirates at Tampa Bay Rays game preview

TV: Sun Sports Time: Pregame coverage begins at :11:30 a.m. Backed by strong performances from their banged-up rotation, the Pittsburgh Pirates have moved above .500 for the first time in more than two months. Tampa Bay's David Price also has been solid of late, but has gotten little help from the Rays' inconsistent offense. With Pittsburgh's Charlie Morton looking to...

St. Louis Cardinals: The price of Price is too high

I do not believe it would not behoove the Cardinals to trade for Rays ace David Price. Yes, pitching wins championships. Yes, the Cardinals just lost two of their starters. Yes, David Price just had one of his finest pitching performances and says he’s never been better. Yes, it seems pretty risky to be dependent upon guys like Shelby Miller, Carlos Martinez, and Marco Gonzales...

17-year old girl dominates Rays in batting practice with knuckleball

This is 17-year old Chelsea Baker, a pitcher for Durant High School’s baseball team. On Monday, she became the youngest woman ever to throw major league batting practice. And she more than held her own against the Rays. Check this out. That knuckleball is just gross. She made Evan Longoria look like a fool with that pitch! With the way the Rays are playing this season, Baker could...

High School Girl Pitches Batting Practice for the Tampa Bay Rays--and Doesn't Do Half Bad!

Meet Chelsea Baker. She pitches for her high school's baseball team in Plant City, Florida. Apparently she's pretty good at throwing the old knuckleball. She should be since the master of the knuckleball, Joe Niekro, taught her how to throw when she was little.So--how good is she? After meeting Tampa Bay Ray manager Joe Maddon at an awards banquet she was given the chance...

6/26 Hump Day Heroes

It’s Hump Day ya’ll! Well nevermind, it’s actually Thursday but you all know the drill. Thank goodness for the World Cup (or curse it if you hate soccer) because it is the only sport generating excitement nowadays. When the NBA and NHL Drafts end, sports abyss will be upon us.  Baseball is still going strong and there have been some mighty impressive performances lately....
