Your browser does not support iframes. Minnesota Twins ballboy Paul Neshek made an amazing grab of a foul liner during the fourth inning of Thursday's game at Target Field. It happened in the bottom of the fourth inning as Chicago White Sox batter Alexei Ramirez hit a hard line drive which would have went into the third base stands, and likely would have hit somebody, had Neshek not leaped up and snatched it out of the air with his glove. Neshek landed on his rear end but was perfectly fine. Neshek happens to be the brother of Oakland A's relief pitcher (and former Twin) Pat Neshek, who couldn't believe that his brother made one of ESPN's top plays. Looks like Paul might be good enough to play in the major leagues as well. Video via MLB. H/T LBS. Visit us at holdoutsports.com and follow us on Twitter @HoldoutSports.

Twins Ballboy, Brother of A’s Reliever, Skies to Make Highlight-Reel Catch (Video)

Get that kid a uniform. Paul Neshek, a ballboy for the Minnesota Twins, made the play of the day Thursday at Target Field, leaping out of his shoes to snare an Alexei Ramirez foul ball. Neshek didn’t exactly stick the landing, but he held onto the ball, gaining him a round of applause from fans along the third-base line. His highlight-reel grab also impressed at least one major...

Separate Mauer from the money

If you do a Google search on baseball's worst contracts and look them over, Joe Mauer's name comes up a lot. Heck, even Head and Shoulders gave up on him. And the famous, "Well played, Mauer," commercial seems far in the past. All of that is because of the contract Mauer signed. And that happens a lot. You heard it when Beltran played for the Mets. You have heard...

John Jaso slides into second base on foul ball

Your browser does not support iframes. Oakland A's catcher John Jaso had an embarrassing moment running the basepaths during Thursday's game against the Texas Rangers when he slid into second base on a foul ball. It happened in the top of the third inning after Jaso walked to reach first base with two outs. The next A's batter, Jed Lowrie, hit a foul grounder on a...

Brian Dozier leads recent Twins homer barrage

MINNEAPOLIS -- Brian Dozier isn't necessarily known as a power hitter, but the Twins second baseman flexed his muscles Thursday. Dozier hit his sixth home run of the season, which now has him tied for fourth on the team this year. It was just a sampling of what Minnesota's offense did Thursday as the Twins homered four times in their 8-4 win over the White Sox in the series...

Twins sign first-round draft pick Kohl Stewart

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Twins announced Wednesday that they have signed first-round pick Kohl Stewart, the fourth overall pick in this month's Major League Baseball Draft. According to Jim Callis of Baseball America, the Twins signed Stewart for 4,544,400, which was right around the slot value for the fourth pick. Stewart, a right-handed pitcher from St. Piux X (Texas) High...

Manny Ramirez’s Taiwan career comes to a close

Manny Ramirez, who we fondly remember for his man-child antics and devastatingly perfect swing (and maybe for the ‘roids), is back in the news. Kind of. Manny has been playing this season in Taiwan for the EDA Rhinos, but that seems to be coming to an end. Reports out of Taiwan are that he will be dropped by the Rhinos nine days before his contract is set to expire. This has nothing...

Will the Oakland Athletics ever have their own ballpark?

Yoenis Cespedes (Ezra Shaw/Getty Images) When it comes to the Oakland Athletics, the O.co Coliseum is always a hot topic of conversation. Built back in the 1960s, the O.co Coliseum is the last stadium in the U.S. to still host both a MLB and a NFL team. A’s fans have always complained about the old facilities and how this stadium is unfit for baseball. Additionally, when it is...

Twins Friday: Brian Dozier hits solo homer for lone run

The Minnesota Twins entered their weekend series having scored seven or more runs in the last three games. Scott Kazmir put a stop to that. The Cleveland left-hander held the Twins to just one run on five hits Friday as Minnesota dropped the series opener by a 5-1 final. The offense that had found a rhythm during the recent home stand went cold to start the road trip. "We...

Billy Beane Selling Longtime Danville, Calif. Home Purchased During Writing of ‘Moneyball’ (Photos)

A little more than 10 years ago, Oakland Athletics general manager Billy Beane famously turned down a five-year, $13 million offer from the Boston Red Sox to become the team’s G.M. Had he accepted, it would have made Beane the best-compensated general manager in the history of organized sports at the time — but he turned it down. Don’t cry for Beane, however, it seems that...

Tanner Vavra proving everyone, even his dad, wrong

Tanner Vavra has heard the criticisms. He would never be good enough to play college baseball, let alone professional baseball. And even if he did, he wouldn't be as good as his peers. Even Vavra's own father had his doubts. But earlier this month, when the Minnesota Twins took Vavra in the 30th round of the 2013 Major League Baseball draft, all those doubters were silenced...

Is it time for Grant Green, Hiro Nakajima or Jemile Weeks to replace Adam Rosales in Oakland?

Despite losing three-of-four to the Texas Rangers, the Oakland A’s are still 11 games over .500 and a game up in first place in the American League West. If you tuned into the A’s postgame broadcast, though, you’d have thought the A’s were circling the drain along side the Houston Astros and that the sole responsibility fell on A’s shortstop/second-baseman Adam Rosales...
