MINNEAPOLIS Twins first baseman Chris Parmelee left Wednesday's game after being hit in the helmet by a pitch from Boston reliever Justin Thomas. Parmelee left the game for precautionary reasons and will be reevaluated Thursday, the team announced. After falling behind 1-2 in the count, Parmelee was hit in the head by a 93 mph fastball from Thomas. Parmelee instantly fell to the ground and laid face down in the batters box as the Twins' training staff ran out to attend to him. After laying in the dirt for a minute, Parmelee sat up before being helped off the field. Parmele was replaced by pinch runner Danny Valencia, who then moved to third base defensively. Third baseman Sean Burroughs moved to first base in place of Parmelee. It was the first time in Burroughs' major league career that he played first base. The scary incident involving Parmelee came just four pitches after Twins designated hitter Justin Morneau was at bat. Morneau missed a good amount of time the past two seasons with a concussion after he was kneed in the head on a play at second base in 2010. A pitch to the helmet could possibly have done more damage to Morneau, who is still working his way back from the concussion.Follow Tyler Mason on Twitter.

Potential Trade Candidate: Francisco Liriano

While the trade market doesn’t traditionally become active before early summer, it’s never too early to begin an examination of some of the potential options that may be available either now or in the coming months. Regardless of what date the calendar reads, pitching is always put at a premium on the trade market anytime a quality option is made available. The key word there...

Joe Mauer Still Hitting Well Against the Red Sox as He Adjusts to New Role With Twins (Video)

Joe Mauer has had decent success against the Red Sox, but that's no different than how he's fared against the rest of the American League. The former MVP -- who is hitting .307 against Boston -- battled through injury last season. This year, he's splitting his time between catcher, first base and designated hitter. Jenny Dell stops by the Minnesota dugout to catch up...

What’s Wrong with Francisco Liriano?

We’re only heading into the last week of April, but it’s already been a cataclysmic start to the season for Twins left-hander Francisco Liriano. To contextualize a bit for how bad the season has been for the 28-year-old left-hander, take a look at Liriano’s line from Sunday: 5 innings pitched, 5 runs (5 ER), 4 K/4 BB, 86 pitches (47 strikes) That’s obviously nowhere near...

Recap: Sox hang on for a 7-6 win in Minnesota

First things first: I didn't watch this game. I was too busy watching the Bruins be lousy and lose to Washington in overtime. (I predicted the outcome, which only makes me feel about 4% better.) I'm guessing many of you are like me and didn't watch, so let's take a look-see through the box score and play by play to see what we missed. They got out to an early lead...

Red Sox take advantage of slumping Twins pitching to win second straight
