The horror of Washington Nationals C Wilson Ramos' kidnapping has sadly not yet been resolved today, but a few more details have emerged this morning.  We will again attempt to keep this post updated throughout the day as new developments are reported.

Venezuelan Minister of Interior Justice Tareck El Aissami has reported that the vehicle that Ramos was taken away in has been found in Bejuma, about an hour away from the Ramos family home, according to The Washington Post.  Unfortunately, this has not yet led to the discovery of Ramos' whereabouts.  In the same post linked above, The Post quotes the Twitter account of a Ramos family friend, Marfa Mata, that said "We don't have any information. The kidnappers haven’t call yet. Please we must keep calm."  So sadly, the famly has not been contacted by the kidnappers yet.

As we try to find positive news in such a scary and nerve-wracking situation, a 2009 Time magazine article about kidnappings in Venezuela states that the South American country has "the highest kidnapping rate in the Western Hemisphere," but that "98 percent of abductions result in a release, and most deaths usually result from a pre-existing medical condition."  The fact that so many of these kidnappings have a positive end result is one thing that nervous fans across NatsTown can hang their hats on as they fervently refresh their Twitter accounts for more information.

At this point, the Nationals organization has not yet commented on the situation, but we will let you know as soon as they do.  This blog post will be updated throughout the day as more details emerge.

UPDATE @ 12:03 PM: In the best news released so far about the situation, Nationals Journal's Adam Kilgore just tweeted this: @AdamKilgoreWP Authorities say Wilson Ramos is alive. RT @rafaelrojasc VZ Intelligence police confirm WIlson Ramos is still alive #Nationals.
