Found March 12, 2013 on MetsOnline:
PLAYERS: David Wright
TEAMS: New York Mets
Wright has been absolutely smashing the ball over at the World Baseball Classic, and he really has been “the guy” for USA Baseball. Wright has simply shown that he cares more than anyone else on his team about winning for his country, and I think that is great. Although Wright’s teams haven’t really won anything, outside of the 2006 team, Wright is a “winner” and truly does want to win. He sees an opportunity with Team USA to win, and he’s certainly seizing it. Wright will take that winning attitude right into April. Unfortunately, Wright’s USA Team is A LOT more talented than his Mets team. Anyway, that grand-slam was awesome to see, and I hope Wright continues to hit meaningful homeruns in a couple of weeks when he is wearing orange and blue.

Baseball Fans Across The Nation Salute Our Captain America: David Wright

Last night made it official; the fans and the baseball world have granted David Wright one of the coolest and most prestigious nicknames a ballplayer could have, originating right here on MMO: Captain America. Team USA was on the brink of elimination in the first round of the World Baseball Classic, however with one slam of the bat — a grand slam at that — immediately prompted...

David Wright Is The Man

As my dad used to say – and he’s been quoted by so many – “Some are born to greatness; others have greatness thrust upon them.” Often we find ourselves in situations not of our own making, that result in us as human beings taking a step forward and producing results surprising to even ourselves. Almost daily, your intrepid columnist is asked to accomplish something that...

Mets PR man dresses as Captain America sidekick Bucky as tribute to David Wright (Photo)

As a tribute to New York Mets third baseman David Wright earning the nickname "Captain America" while leading Team USA in the World Baseball Classic this month, Mets public relations VP Jay Horwitz tweeted a photo of himself dressed as the superhero's sidekick Bucky. Horwitz had the photo taken of himself in the tight blue spandex outfit while standing in front of...

David Wright To Meet With Team Doctors After Sore Back Knocks Him Out Of Action

According to MLB Network, David Wright is out for Team USA with a sore back. MLB Network is saying that this is precautionary and that he is NOT available to pinch hit either. It’s now being reported that that he will meet with Mets team doctors on Friday and the issue appears to be in the back of Wright’s left ribcage area. In Wright’s absence, Team USA went with Willie Bloomquist...

David Wright is “Captain America” For Team USA and Should be Captain of the Mets

It’s not often that a Yankee will have much praise for a Met and vice versa.  Then again, it’s pretty rare to see a Yankee managing legend coaching a current Mets superstar. That’s exactly what we are getting with this year’s World Baseball Classic with Joe Torre managing Mets third baseman David Wright for team USA.  Wright’s presence in the American clubhouse has been...

Enjoy The Spectacle of Captain America, But Don’t Forget Reality Sets In On April 1

Isn’t it amazing what kind of a player David Wright can be when he’s actually surrounded by some legitimate major league talent? Currently, Wright is enjoying some of the most spectacular baseball he’s ever played in his career, and why not? We’ve all seen what the Mets All Star third baseman could do before when he had great protection in the lineup. It was no coincidence...

David Wright, Captain America and Mets’ Team Captaincy

From Bakersfield, California to Bayonne, New Jersey, Mets third baseman David Wright has become an overnight sensation as he continues to shine for Team USA in the World baseball Classic. Step aside Justin Bieber. From trending nationally on Twitter to being the hot baseball topic on sports talk shows from coast to coast, Wright has gone from face of the Mets franchise to the face...

Joe Torre Has Found His Derek Jeter In David Wright For Team USA

Updated on March 12 at 11:00 AM Kevin Kernan of the New York Post caught my attention when he tweeted that Joe Torre has found his Derek Jeter in David Wright. He was referring his latest article this morning in which he writes that David Wright has emerged as a true leader for Team USA. No matter how Team USA fares in the World Baseball Classsic, Wright’s performance is good...

Everybody Wants To Rule The World, But David Wright Is Your Ruler

I tuned into the Mets spring training win over the Astros on Saturday at different points. The few times I tuned in, Keith Hernandez was talking about Mayor Bloomberg's large soda ban, cats, and how he jinxed the last out of the game when, soon after he said "this could do it" on a simple 3-1 play, Bobby Parnell dropped it and gave up a run before the game could end...

One Versus The World

David Wright continued his assault of the World Baseball Classic on Tuesday with another five RBI's against Puerto Rico, as he led the United States to a 7-1 victory over Carlos Beltran and Puerto Rico. Wright's three run double in the eighth inning fell just out of the reach of a diving Angel Pagan, who probably took a route to that ball which went through Joe's Crab...

Featured Post: Hope In Flushing, Despair In The Bronx

It seems you just can’t watch the evening sports reports these days without hearing about how yet another Yankee “great” has landed himself on the disabled list. This week it was Mark Teixeira. The longtime Yankee first baseman will miss eight to ten weeks after an injury suffered while hitting balls off a tee during a workout for the World Baseball Classic. Teixeira will...
