PLAYERS: Dioner Navarro
TEAMS: Chicago Cubs
Your browser does not support iframes.Well, here is something you don't see everyday in the big leagues.Chicago Cubs catcher Dioner Navarro encountered some trouble when trying to locate a popup during Friday's game against the New York Mets. The play came in the fourth inning when Mets hitter Marlon Byrd popped a ball straight up behind the plate. Normally, this kind of batted ball is virtually an automatic out. But not this time around, though.Apparently, Navarro loses the ball in the lights on its trajectory down and immediately goes into self defense mode by ducking and covering his head. The ball eventually lands several feet away from Navarro and nearly strikes a Cubs player standing on-deck.And this is why the Cubs haven't won a World Series since 1908.

BS of the Day: 6-13-13

Hey, the Cubs decided to win today! This should be easy. Your Bright Spots: I'd be remiss to not start with this one: much-maligned Starlin Castro had a 3-7 day, including a 450-foot home run that the wind somehow knocked down into the ivy for a double. Even more than that, though, his at-bats looked really good today, and he seemed to be seeing the ball really well. Am I going...

Living the dream, with Ian Stewart

Twitter is easily my favorite social media site. It’s the best place to get news and cool stories while allowing for just enough broadcasting that you actually get news from outside your chosen cone if you engage with it. Still, I usually hate twitter controversies. Bill Simmons is “angry” with ESPN again? Boo. Football players aren’t, en masse, erudite and inspiring thinkers...
