Most people who have trouble finding a date ask to be set up by a friend. Some might even ask a random person they bump into on the sidewalk.

Washington Nationals pitcher Gio Gonzalez is taking that one step further: He's asking 30,000 people.

Gonzalez took to Twitter on Monday, claiming he needs to find a date for the Nationals' 2012 Dream Gala.

"Hey I need a date for the Gala on Saturday night, [any] sexy single ladies interested," Gonzalez tweeted.

With 30,485 followers, Gonzalez clarified his tweet to make the selection process easier.

"Must be 21 or older, please," Gonzalez said in his next tweet.

The Washington Nationals 2012 Dream Gala is a cocktail reception and silent auction to raise money for area youth baseball programs and improving the lives of children in the community. Guests will get the opportunity to mingle with Nationals players, like Gonzalez, and attend the team's VIP after-party.

The 26-year-old pitcher, who makes more than $8 million a year, shouldn't have any trouble finding a date now.

  • To be 26, to be a professional athlete because you are great at playing your game...well that is just a awesome blessing. Gio will have no problem finding a lucky lady. Good for him and her whomever that turns out to be.
  • Can anybody say "Cheesy douchy and desprate" Wow using Twitter, he may end up with a nutcase

The Washington Nationals are Doing it Right

In case you haven’t heard, the Washington Nationals are a thing now. No, really. At 36-23, they’ve got the second best record in baseball, the best team ERA, and as much as it pains me to say it, this little thing called Bryce Harper, luckily sans “skullet,” which makes it hurt a little less. Here’s the thing about the Nats though, after Harper they don’t hit very well...

Washington OF Harper returns to starting lineup

Washington Nationals rookie Bryce Harper returned to the lineup Monday night, one day after he didn't start because of a sore back. The 19-year-old Harper came on as a pinch hitter and scored the decisive run as the Nationals beat Boston 4-3 Sunday to complete a three-game sweep. After drawing a walk, Harper scored from first base on a ninth-inning double by Roger Bernadina...

The Battle Between Wang and Detwiler Continues

When Chien-Ming Wang came off the disabled list, moving him into the rotation and sliding Ross Detwiler to the bullpen made sense. Detwiler had been struggling in his most recent games, and Wang had been slotted to have the fifth starter role ever since Spring Training. But since returning, Wang hasn’t done much to impress since taking over Detwiler’s spot, and enough may be...

He came in and said no, I want to go, I want to finish this...

Matt Stairs' House Robbed

Alright...I'll say it.  This sucks.Former Major Leaguer (and all around good guy) Matt Stairs' home was broken into while he was away to be inducted into the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame. And the worst part about it, dude thinks it was targeted."Well I've got a feeling they knew what they wanted. I believe they were looking for the World Series ring and, of...

The Washington Nationals earned their fifth straight win on Tuesday, all of them against teams from the American League East, with the latest victims being the Toronto Blue Jays. Nationals Sweep Sox as Sox fall below .500 again

Nationals Sweep Sox as Sox Fall below .500 again Monday June 11, 2012- I’m sure I’m like most New England Sport fans this weekend all hyped up on the Celtic’s game 7 on Saturday Night and unfortunately they lost. The Sox however didn’t give much excitement to “us” fans this weekend. The Sox only scored 9 runs and accumulated 25 k’s and were embarrassed at home. The...

When Bryce Harper scored from first...

No better way to cap off the weekend in Boston than Bryce Harper scoring from first in the ninth inning on Sunday on a Roger Bernadina double to score the game winning run. Here's the video: Your browser does not support iframes. Meanwhile, in case you're wondering how Harper spent his first game *not* starting since his callup six weeks ago? "Just blowing...

Bryce Harper Hates Clown Questions

Bryce Harper is lighting the MLB on fire, and making the Washington Nationals a league wide story.  However despite all of the early success, Harper is keeping a level head, and not allowing silly questions to distract him from the task at hand.  Check out Bryce Harper's reaction when a reporter ask the 19 year old phenom about a possible celebratory drink after the Nats pick...

Nationals Sweep Red Sox And Show Baseball They’re The Real Deal

The Washington Nationals entered Boston on Friday without a single win at Fenway Park in their franchise’s history, including their time in Montreal.
