Dear L.A. Dodgers players, management and staff:
This letter is admittedly a little overdue, and for that, we apologize.
First off, let us belatedly express our heartfelt gratitude for taking Carl Crawford and Josh Beckett — as well as that troublesome $260 million in salary — off our hands. We really would have liked to keep Adrian Gonzalez around, but we understand we had to give a little to get a lot of room on that ledger. We’re optimistic about what Rubby De La Rosa and Allen Webster can do for this team whether they’re starting or relieving for us in the future, and thanks for nurturing them so well down on the farm.
We should have sent this sooner, but we were a little stressed last September what with the whole Bobby-Valentine-clubhouse-in-total-and-utter-collapse situation. It might have been a little selfish, but we needed to take some “Us Time”. Refocus. Breathe. Get the old Duck Boats in a row, as it were.
And things have...
BEST OF MAXIM
Word broke on Sunday that the Dodgers had promoted left-handed pitcher Onelki Garcia from Double-A Chattanooga to Triple-A Albuquerque.
The corresponding move was lefty Rob Rasmussen was demoted to Chattanooga. It was reported he'd be pitching exclusively out of the bullpen for the remainder of the season. He didn't fare too well in Triple-A after having a really nice...
Tommy Lasorda, the Baseball Hall of Fame manager who made his name with the Los Angeles Dodgers, spent some time with rapper Ice Cube during Monday night's game at Dodger Stadium.
Lasorda posted a photo of himself with Ice Cube on his Twitter account. Lasorda added this caption: "@icecube told me it was a good day. I told him, 'Everyday at Blue Heaven on Earth...
Hollywood actor Danny DeVito made his way onto the field during a Nick Punto post game interview. The actor was clad in a Punto jersey and shared a moment with the veteran during the interview. Earlier in the game DeVito congratulated Punto with a high five from the stands after Punto went deep. Only in Los Angeles folks.
The post Dodgers Nick Punto Has A Hollywood Fan In Danny...
The Los Angels Dodgers are eager to get Hanley Ramirez back into the everyday starting lineup. However, they are equally concerned with rushing him back. The team understands their position and what Ramirez means going forward. They will need him down the stretch and in the playoffs if they make it.
Austin Laymance of MLB.com says the Dodgers made Ramirez available to...
Adrian Gonzalez homered and Zack Greinke was his usual stingy self for the still-surging Dodgers on Saturday afternoon.
Their formula isn't the same but the result always seems to be victory for the first-place National League West Dodgers. At least since June.
Gonzalez hit a two-run homer in the first inning against Tampa Rays pitcher Roberto Hernandez and that was all the...

This is the worst thing I’ve ever done.
Los Angeles Dodgers legend and MLB icon Tommy Lasorda somehow, some way, met up with Ice Cube in the stands at Dodger Stadium during Monday night’s game against the New York Mets. While that in and of itself would be worthy of a mention, here’s the message Mr. Lasorda tweeted out to his 95,000+ followers: […]The post Tommy Lasorda kicks it with Ice Cube and Danny DeVito at...
The player to be named in the trade that sent catcher Drew Butera from Minnesota to the Los Angeles Dodgers now has a name.
The Twins announced on Tuesday that they have acquired left-hander Miguel Sulbaran from the Dodgers to complete the trade. The Twins sent Butera, who spent most of the season at Triple-A Rochester, to the Dodgers just before the trade deadline at the end of...
The Dodgers on Tuesday completed their acquisition of Drew Butera from the Minnesota Twins for left-hander Miguel Sulbaran.
You read that correctly. Just when it seemed the "old" Ned Colletti was gone, he sprouts up again.
Sulbaran, 19, was signed as an international free agent out of Venezuela in 2011. He was one of the Loons' most consistent pitchers this...
Clayton Kershaw’s so good this season that not only does he appear to be the front-runner for the Cy Young Award, he has to be considered a candidate for the National League MVP Award. (Image source: ESPN at http://thesuicidesqueeze.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/mlb_a_clayton-kershaw_mb_600.jpg)

The Rays are one of the more forward-thinking teams in Major League Baseball, so they’ll take an advantage any way they can get it. The hidden ball trick may not be as reliable as defensive shifts, but, hey, Tampa Bay will try anything.
On Saturday afternoon in Los Angeles, the Rays pulled a fast one on the Dodgers and utility infielder Juan Uribe. In the bottom of the fourth inning...
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Adrian Gonzalez scored the go-ahead run on Yasiel Puig's sacrifice fly that capped a three-run sixth inning, helping the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the New York Mets 4-2 on Monday night for their sixth straight victory.
The Dodgers improved to 38-8 since June 22, the franchise's best 46-game stretch in the modern era that began in 1900. The 1899 Brooklyn...

The Tampa Bay Rays appeared to still be shell-shocked from the Dodgers coming back from a 6-0 margin over the last three innings...
Ken Rosenthal talks with Clayton Kershaw about the recent success and positive energy surrounding the Dodgers. The Dodgers have been a sizzling 37-8 in their last 45 and Kershaw is turning in another elite season (11-7, 1.88 ERA, 174 K's). The Dodgers still have a ways to go, and they can only hope the next two months go as well as the last two.
