The much anticipated debut for top prospect Zack Wheeler finally took place. Over 4 2/3 innings for Triple-A Buffalo, Wheeler gave up 3 hits, four walks, a hit batsman, and two earned runs. He also fanned seven, while throwing 101 pitches. The Mets' top prospect was having some command issues, but that is to be expected. Maybe nerves got the best of him, but clearly Wheeler didn't have his best stuff. Although he struggled, Zack still showed he has the potential to be an overpowering pitcher. When he eventually pitches in the big leagues, there is no doubt that Wheeler will have many strikeout victims. I expect Wheeler will improve in his next start, and look for him to do a better job of mixing up his pitches. Regardless of his performance tonight, Zack Wheeler is still one of the best prospects in the game. It will just take time.

Mets Minors: Brandon Nimmo beginning to look like a solid draft pick
When Sandy Alderson and company selected Brandon Nimmo with the Mets first round (13th overall) pick in the 2011 draft it was hardly a slam dunk. This is because Nimmo’s home state, Wyoming, might have a higher population of endangered American Buffalo than high-school athletes. (Also… Wyoming is pretty cold). Nimmo’s talents were only truly put on display with his play...
Harvey Is A Different Kind Of Mets Pitching Prospect
When asked about the difference between facing Triple-A and major league hitters, Mets starter Matt Harvey said:
“When you make a mistake, they hit it. Down there you can get away with some stuff. Not all the time, but more often than not. Up here, you’re going to make a mistake, they’re going to hit it. They did. I just have to do a better job.”
I really love how Harvey...

MMO Fair Or Foul: Phillip Evans Might Never Make It?
From time to time I will check out other Mets websites, and blogsites. I have as they say, some “friends in the biz,” and I enjoy seeing what they’re up to on occasion.
Today I was on Mack’s Mets and I saw something there, an opinion by a “scout,” about one of our Mets farmhands, and I have a real problem with what I saw. I really don’t know what kind of scout this...

Forget About The Change-Up…Give Em The Heater
It’s 5:20 PM, and it’s the bottom of the fifth inning of the New York Mets vs. San Diego Padres game. This is the first time I have ever started to write anything before a game was finished, but I have to get this off my chest.
Why are the Mets insisting on Matt Harvey throwing so many change-ups?
I don’t see the logic. I see the logic in the change-up, just not in the way...

You probably have figured out after seven years of doing this that I like to be aggravated. I like to think that I don't aggravate easily without a good reason. And let's face it. The Mets have given me no shortage of good reasons to be aggravated.I can't get aggravated by Sunday's loss. Don't get me wrong ... I really want to. Especially because the Mets, as...
