New York Mets are a bit of a mess.  They weren’t a very good team last  year although first year manager Terry Collins did a good job.  They are a team that always seems to have injuries and they can’t get out of their own way.  The big elephant in the room is their ownership and the ongoing law problems with Bernie Madoff and the fallout from his ponzi scheme.  The Mets had to cut their payroll by a huge amount this off-season.  They haven’t done much of anything and their GM Sandy Alderson is now on Twitter poking fun of their situation.  I find it pretty funny that he is able to do that and not feel any repercussions.  The account has been said to be real and Alderson has been posting everyday.  If anything maybe it will let the fans see the real side of Alderson and respect him more and take notice of the team in this way.  The Mets heading into the spring figure to be no better then a 75 win team or so. Can the Mets surprise people??  I would say no because they just don’t have...

Most of the people who responded were very positive about it. Check it out… I love that Sandy is on twitter. It shows he can relate and interact with the fans along with a sense of humor. I think he should continue...

Sandy Alderson On WFAN At 3:00 PM

Mets GM Sandy Alderson will be on WFAN with Mike Francesa at 3:00 PM. Lots of varying opinions on Alderson’s foray into Twitter. Some are getting a kick out of it, some fans feel as though he’s mocking them, and others simply don’t care. Where do you stand? The funniest person on Twitter these days is New York Mets general manager Sandy Alderson. His account...

Johan To Pitch From A Mound By Friday

Some encouraging news from Johan Santana who  long-tossed from up to about 160 feet in front of Terry Collins today and showed no signs of discomfort and even had some zip on his throws. “I’m not on rehab anymore,” Santana said. “I’m trying to build my arm strength back so that when I get on the mound, I don’t feel anything.” Dan Martin of the NY Post spoke to Santana...

Santana rehab helps give Collins good cheer

PORT ST. LUCIE — He is the manager of a Mets team operating with a plummeting payroll and facing low expectations in a tough division. But Terry Collins insists he is not discouraged.“You’d be surprised at how easy it is for me to look forward to this year,” Collins...

Mets Have Room For Improvement Over 2011

Yesterday afternoon, New York Mets GM Sandy Alderson spent the better part of an hour on the air with Mike Francesa on WFAN. Their topics varied in what I would describe as a pretty good interview on Francesa's part, ranging from the team's lineup, to their finances, to the outlook for 2012 and even Sandy Alderson's recently foray into the realm that is Twitter. A lot...

Recap Of Sandy Alderson Interview On WFAN

This afternoon, Sandy Alderson was a guest of Mike Francesa on WFAN and MetsBlog posted a summary recap: Johan Santana will throw off a mound later this week in Port St. Lucie. He feels the current rotation is “pretty solid,” if Santana is healthy. There isn’t anyone on the roster who doesn’t have something to prove. Lucas Duda has big offensive potential. He believes...

Sandy shelves Twitter shtick in Mets forecast

Sandy Alderson left his one-liners back at his Twitter account, but he spoke optimistically Tuesday about his belief that the cash-strapped Mets will be "better than people are giving them credit for" in 2012.

Spring Training Warmup Tonight @8pm

I return to the airwaves after the Super Bowl hiatus to a content-packed show. Matt Cerrone of Metsblog joins me to discuss Sandy Alderson’s debut on Twitter, the NYBD Mets Hall of Fame results, and the Mets handling of the media. I will give you my thoughts on why trading A.J. Burnett just for salary relief isn’t a good idea. In the back-half, Ballpark Digest Minor League...

A second look at Jon Rauch

Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy with most of the moves that Sandy Alderson and Co. have made this off-season. Not spending a ton of money (which the team didn’t even have) on a player like Jose Reyes was a hard decision, but it was the right move. Personally, I loved the Angel Pagan for Andres Torres and Ramon Ramirez trade and if I were the Mets I probably...

Mets say team will surprise

Sandy Alderson left his whoopee cushions and his one-liners back at his Twitter account, but he spoke optimistically Tuesday about his belief that the cash-strapped Mets will be “better than people are giving them credit for” in 2012.

MMO Fair or Foul: Mets Are Waving The White Flag?

Jon Morosi of FOX Sports reported today that the Mets are one of five teams waving the white flag. Here is the segment he wrote on the Mets… The Mets’ payroll has dropped roughly $50 million since this time last year. They lost popular shortstop Jose Reyes because they weren’t able to match the Marlins’ offer — a notion that would have seemed absurd two years ago...

If the Mets Were My High School Students, What I Would Tell Them

A few days ago, an article was posted on Fox Sports about how the Mets will be one of 5 teams that won’t make the World Series this year. Here’s the actual point of the article, the author labels 5 teams that did not improve at all during the offseason. To me, that is a little different than their claim but whatever. I’m not going to sit here and say that the Mets...

Wright says Mets up to ‘challenge’

PORT ST. LUCIE — It’s spring training, so optimism abounds, even around the Mets. But as they get ready for what could be their toughest season in years, the typical enthusiasm is mixed with a stiff dose of reality. “These guys aren’t naïve,” manager Terry Collins told The Post...
