Found October 19, 2012 on Phillies Nation:
I was an 8 year old growing up in Chicago when my dad took me to a Cubs/Phillies doubleheader in 1950. The Cubs stunk, even back then, but none of them would sign my scorecard. Seeing my disappointment, my dad took me over to the Phillies side between games and when the teams came back out, one of the Phillies (none of whom I knew), saw my outstretched hand and stopped to sign my scorecard. He looked down at me and asked if I was a Phillie fan? I gasped “Yes Sir!” That Phillie was Robin Roberts and today, 62 years later, I am still a Phillie Phanatic. Anyone who says professional athletes are not role models, just ask me. - Mike Read more “Why I Love the Phillies” stories from Phillies Nation readers here.

Howard For A-Rod? Forget About It

Yesterday, our own Pat Gallen outlined for you why he didn’t think A-Rod would be a good fit in Philly. The influx of trade rumors now surrounding the former superstar third baseman who is currently having his feet held to the fire by just about everyone in Yankeeland got me to thinking: A-Rod is an aging player with a lot of money left on a long-term deal he’ll seemingly never...

Phillies 2013 Third Base Solution

I am a wannabe GM, so here goes...2013 is going to be a transition year at many positions on the diamond for the Phillies, but I believe the solution for 3rd base is an easy and inexpensive one.  Sure, fans are going to say, "Trade for David Wright or Chase Headley."  Ha, keep dreaming.  Let's go with something we already have, plus a reinforcement.  Kevin Frandsen...

Phillies Begin to Make Roster Moves: Tyson Brummett, Steven Lerud, Pete Orr are Moving Parts

Tyson Brummett, we hardly knew thee.  Today the Phillies began clearing space on their 40-man roster, attempting to outright  RHP Tyson Brummett, IF Pete Orr, and C Steven Lerud to AAA Lehigh Valley.  Brummet did not make it through waivers and was claimed in the exchange by the Toronto Blue Jays, reports MLB.com's Todd Zolecki. The Phillies will need to clear roster space...

The Phils have just announced that they had taken Pete Orr and Steve Lerud off of their 40-man roster.

Earlier this afternoon, the Phils have announced that they had outrighted infielder Pete Orr and catcher Steve Lerud from their 40-men roster, leaving them open to possibly being picked up by another team during the 2012-13 off-season. This leaves the Phils with 37 players now on the roster, along with four players on the sixty-days disabled list.

Larry Andersen a Screwball

Not only is Phillies banished to radio color commentator Larry Andersen a screwball, he's also a big fan of the Reading Phillies mascot Screwball.

Phillies Player Review: Joe Blanton

Big Joe was the same old (AP) Back in June, I asked if Joe Blanton was throwing too many strikes. It seemed that he was afraid to walk anyone. During his time with the Phillies this season, Blanton’s K/BB ratio was 6.39, eclipsing his previous career high of 3.50 set in 2007 with Oakland. Big Joe was absolutely pounding the strike zone this season, almost to a fault. By throwing...
