I know a lot of fans are shaking their heads puzzled right now over the last minute 3 team trade between the Los Angeles Dodgers, Boston Red Sox and Seattle Mariners. With the Dodgers poor hitting this year a lot of fans looked to the minor leagues for help after realizing that Ned Colletti and Frank McCourt weren’t going to go out and get anybody via trade that would add on salary to a team already in a financial crisis. A lot of fans felt that outfielder Trayvon Robinson could be that help and some Dodger brass even felt that Tray could see the majors this soon. When you looked at his numbers in the minors (as of the trade he was hitting .293 with 26 HR’s, 71 RBI’s) you saw something that the Dodgers didn’t have much of and that was power. Those 26 home looked real nice and if he could hit a few with the Dodgers, even be a thread maybe they could pull away with some wins, couldn’t be worse than Tony Gwynn’s slap hitting son right?
