With Casey Blake having season-ending surgery to repair a pinch nerve in his neck and having a myriad of issues this year including a cervical straight, an elbow infection and back spasms, will Dodgers General Manager Ned Colletti bring him back next season?
I don’t think so and I don’t think they should. Understandably Aaron Miles is not the ideal third baseman the Dodgers would like but the team has won with him in the line-up and if they need more pop, Juan Uribe can play third as well as he plays second base. Also with the play of Dee Gordon, and Justin Sellers, one of them could move to second and the Dodgers would have a wide ranging, athletic infield that will benefit a strong pitching team next season.
As much as I loved Casey, his class and his story, he’s 38, he can’t stay healthy and his numbers have dropped each season, he’s just not worth brining back next season.
