He's got no reason to b.s. any of this. Minaya may have had his own neck on the line by the Wilpon brain trust, and the whole thing may have been breaking his heart, but that Willie had to drag his own firing out of him was lame.
I heard Minaya on "Mike & the Mad Dog" and he claimed that the whole firing was not pretty, but it was pretty much the way he wanted it to go down. Which means he was (or was forced to) sticking up for the Dolans.. er, Wilpons. Which still means "F-kole" since Met management (once again) couldn't see the bigger picture, and embarrassed the s#it out of themselves once more.
It would've been great to see him managing the All Star Game in the Bronx. I woulda actually watched it this year.
Sorry Willie, here hoping the next job is a goody and it comes soon.
