The Winter Leagues continue to wrap things up….

Tigres de Aragua  3,  Tiburones de La Guaira  1

1B Hector Gimenez had another big day, going 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI, to lead Los Tigres to the win.  That gives them the win of the championship series, and takes them to the Caribbean Series, which begins on Feb 2nd.  Los Tigres scored in just one inning, the 3rd, when  RF Jorge Cortes led off with a single and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt.  A hit batter and a single by Gimenez drove in the first run.  Another run came on another RBI single, and Gimenez scored on a sacrifice fly.  Gimenez also singled to lead off the 2nd, and doubled to begin the 5th, but did not score in either of those innings.  Romulo Sanchez pitched 2 scoreless innings for Los Tigres with 2 walks, and Wil Ledezma pitched a 1-2-3 inning in the 8th.  Los Tiburones scored their only run in the 9th, after two outs had been recorded.  Two singles, and two walks forced in their run.

Aguilas Cibaenas  9,  Leones del Escogido  2

Los Aguilas forced a 9th game in this championship series with a win over Los Leones.  Los Leones scored one run in the 1st and one in the 3rd, but that was all the scoring they did.  Los Aguilas scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st.  A walk and a single put two runners on base, then RF Brandon Moss drove in the runner from second with an RBI single.  Two batters were hit by pitches, forcing in the second run.  Moss homered in the 3rd to give Los Aguilas a 3-2 lead, and Los Aguilas kept going.  They added a 2-run  homer in the 4th, a run on two singles in the 6th, then 3 runs in the 7th.  With two outs in the 2nd, a single, an RBI double by SS Pedro Ciriaco, and RBI single, and a wild pitch brought in those runs.
