Adam Rubin of ESPN New York, scores a heck of an exclusive with David Wright who discusses his thoughts about the Mets, his next contract, Jose Reyes and what he’s looking for in terms of a vision and the direction of the franchise. Wright said he is resolved to test free agency after next season if no extension can be worked out in the next few months. Wright on Jose Reyes not being re-signed: “Yeah, of course it opens your eyes. It makes you realize in a lot of ways there is an ugly business side to this — whether it’s from the player’s perspective or the team’s perspective.” Wright on the Mets direction: “it’s important that we can make a trade or sign a free agent and be able to spend some money. This is my philosophy on it.
