How does that saying go? Wash, rinse, repeat? – Alfonso Soriano is having a fantasy baseball week for the ages. Alfonso Soriano ties MLB record for most RBI (18) in 4-game span. Soriano finished the night 3-for-4 adding another home run and four more RBI to his already ridiculous week. He’s 13 for his last 18 with five home runs and 18 RBI and those numbers have him with some...
Hiroki Kuroda (11-7, 2.33 ERA) continues his run for the Cy Young against John Lackey (7-10, 3.32 ERA) at Fenway. Kuroda’s been brilliant all year, and with CC Sabathia‘s struggles, has been the Yankees’ ace. In his last start against the Angels, he allowed three hits in eight shutout innings. He hasn’t allowed more than three runs in a start since June 30. ”His offspeed...
Alfonso Soriano walked into a media pack at Fenway Park with a familiar smile, fresh off another big day at the plate. His historic four-game clip has the rest of the Yankees feeling good, too.
Soriano has recently put up eye-popping numbers, providing the power that his New York teammates were missing and helping the Yankees tighten the playoff race.
In his last four games through...
BOSTON — The Yankees still have plenty of work to do before they’re really back in the American League playoff picture. But if they climb into contention, they can thank Alfonso Soriano.
Maybe Soriano will just get a pat on the back, a couple of upgrades to the suite he’s guaranteed on all road trips or one of those gift baskets that Derek Jeter allegedly gives to all of the...
This is not about just one man. It may look that may when the games begin and Alfonso Soriano treats opposing pitchers like uniformed piñatas. But Soriano is the most obvious symbol of the Yankees’ sudden offensive transformation a group that pushed around the Red Sox in a 10-3 series-opening victory on Friday at Fenway Park.
Soriano walloped a three-run homer to render the game...
Andy Pettitte changed his ways.
Alfonso Soriano just keeps going.
The Yankees outfielder had three hits and drove in four more runs -- giving him 18 RBIs in his last four games -- and Pettitte avoided his recent first-inning troubles to lead New York to a 10-3 victory over the AL East-leading Boston Red Sox on Friday night.
Soriano, who was traded to New York from the Chicago...
Alfonso Soriano goes back to being mortal.
CJ Wilson was decent enough to eek out a win. The Halos bullpen made it much more eek worthy than needed.
Recently it seems that our manager has no idea how to manage a bullpen (I know I am being redundant). Mike's new plan is that every bullpen clown gets to face one batter and then move on. I don't know how this play's...
Alfonso Soriano drove in four more runs and Andy Pettitte avoided his first-inning troubles to lead New York to a 10-3 victory over the AL East-leading Boston Red Sox on Friday night.
The Yankees won for the fifth time in six games and sent the Red Sox to their third consecutive loss. With Tampa Bay's victory over Toronto, Boston's lead in the division was trimmed to one...
Mark Reynolds, Alfonso Soriano and the rest of the Yankees got their hacks in Friday night, but if Red Sox fans had to pick any pitcher to come to the mound to halt Boston’s three-game losing streak (aside from a healthy Clay Buchholz), it would be John Lackey.
Despite having not recorded a win since July 12 and not faring all that well in his last outing against the Bronx Bombers...
2:15 p.m.: The Red Sox came out with a lineup and then made a change to it soon after it was posted.
Shane Victorino was originally going to get the day off, as he continues to play at less than 100 percent. John Farrell said that Mike Napoli is dealing with a bit of a foot ailment, though, and the first baseman is a late scratch because of it.
Victorino will thus be inserted into...

Including this weekend’s series the Yankees still have 10 games vs. their divisional rivals this season.
With the AL East leading Red Sox clearly having the better year, the Yankees will have their work cut out...
