Curtis Granderson is likely headed to the disabled list for the second time this season. See what happened to him this time.
David Phelps had to leave tonight's win over the Rays in the 8th inning after being hit on the arm by a line drive. Luckily, the x-rays were negative and the Yankees are saying it's just a right forearm contusion. As of now, his status for his next start remains unclear.
On Wednesday night rotation stalwart Hiroki Kuroda had an injury shortened and ineffective outing, and rookie reliever Preston Claiborne finally showed some vulnerability as the Yankees fell to their A.L. East division rivals, the Baltimore Orioles. On a good note, however, David Adams, the rookie 3B, provided a spark of optimism. The Yankees had seven hits last night, half...
The New York Yankees would love to see the player they traded away Jesus Montero for actually make an appearance for them. Michael Pineda has suffered through two seasons of shoulder problems now, but he may be inching closer to a return. In fact, Pineda may soon be ready to go out on a minor league rehab assignment. This according to Andy McCullough of the New Jersey Star...
Former savior Jesus Montero hit 4 HRs for the Yankees and 18 for Seattle: Thus, 22 percent came in a Yankee uniform.Of his 83 career RBIs, 12 - that's 15 percent - came with the Yankees. He batted .328 for the Yankees, .252 for Seattle.Still, Jesus remains the ripe old age of 23. If he were still a Yankee, he would be the youngest player on the team by about a year.He would be...
The New York Yankees rallied to beat the Tampa Bay Rays 4-3 on Saturday in St. Petersburg. Although a few players shined in the Yankees triumph, Mariano Rivera deserves special attention for saving the 18th game of the season for New York. Equaling Dennis Eckersley for fourth place with 1,071 appearances on the hill, the 43-year-old Rivera (0-0, 1.47 ERA) has now closed 18 contests...
Remember when the internet was getting a good laugh at Derek Jeter telling the Starbucks Baristas that his name was Philip? Of course, there is a theory that he stole someone else’s drink or that they completely misheard him. Well, based upon the response from Philip Hughes earlier today, it appears that Jeter was trying to pass himself off as his teammate! Probably not. Just as...
Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira has left New York's game against the Los Angeles Angels in the fourth inning.
Teixeira flied out to right and fouled out to third before leaving Saturday's game. The Yankees didn't immediately announce the reason for his departure.
David Adams replaced Teixeira at first base.
Teixeira is hitless in his last 12 at-bats. He is just...
Will the real Philip please stand up.
I’m not quite sure if Jeter thought he was actually fooling people by giving an alias or just stole some poor guy’s coffee, but photographers spotted the Yankees shortstop leaving a Greenwich Village Starbucks with a cup boldly marked for someone named Philip.
Apparently, this isn’t the first time Jeter has used an alias. It was once reported...
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) -- Brett Gardner, Lyle Overbay and Jayson Nix each drove in two runs, and the New York Yankees beat the Tampa Bay Rays 9-4 on Friday night.
Gardner made it 5-0 with a two-run homer off Roberto Hernandez (2-5) during the fourth. The Yankees took a 3-0 lead in the second on Overbay's two-run double and an RBI single by Nix.
David Phelps (3-2), who retired...

Yesterday I wrote an article expressing my appreciation for New York Yankees GM, Brian Cashman. Dealing with loads of taxes, inflated expectations, and emotional ownership is not easy and as hard as it is for anyone in New York to be underrated, I think he has become just that.
In yesterday’s article I lamented the Jesus Montero/Michael Pineda trade as one of his few mistakes,...
Yankees injured third basemen Alex Rodriguez is under the microscope right now for alleged PED usage again, and he may miss most of the season rehabbing from hip surgery, but that’s not stopping Rodriguez from cashing in.
TMZ is reporting that Rodriguez just sold his Miami Beach mansion for $30 million, making a $15 million profit. Rodriguez reported accepted a $30 million offer...
In occasional bursts of optimism, or Oxycontin, John Sterling will describe a healing Yankee star as being like a trade where we give up nothing. For example, when Mark Teixeira comes home, we may only have to jettison Ben Francisco or Dellin Betances - at first, anyway. But the month of June may resemble more of an off-season house-cleaning than a trade. After Robbie, our entire...
Remember that trade? On January 23rd, 2012 the New York Yankees sent Jesus Montero and Hector Noesi to the Seattle Mariners for Jose Campos and Michael Pineda.
Pineda was coming off an All Star season and was 5th in rookie of the year voting in 2011. He had a respectable line of 9-10 with a 3.74 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, 171 IP and 173 k’s. Seattle was a bad team that year, finishing...
