After a few days of back and forth speculation about whether Zack Greinke would return to the Los Angeles Dodgers or make another rehab start, manager Don Mattingly put the topic to rest last night.  Greinke will be starting today for the Dodgers.  The decision comes after Greinke made just one rehab start following surgery on his clavicle. Zack Greinke starts for Dodgers Wednesday, Don Mattingly said. — Ken Gurnick (@kengurnick) May 14, 2013 Greinke suffered a fractured clavicle on April 12th when he was involved in a benches-clearing brawl.  Greinke threw a 3-2 pitch that hit the Padres' Carlos Quentin.  Quentin took exception to the pitch and rushed out after Greinke.  Both players lowered their shoulders at impact, and it seems that movement caused Greinke to suffer the fractured clavicle. Greinke's rehab has gone about as well as the Dodgers could have hoped.  He was expected to miss eight weeks after undergoing surgery.  It appears he will miss just four instead.  This is fantastic news for the struggling Dodgers. Los Angeles beat the Washington Nationals last night to improve to 16-22 on the season.  They are still in last place in the National League West, though.  They need help, and they need it quick.  Greinke could provide the much-needed boost this team is looking for. Greinke follows own timetable, gets it right

LOS ANGELES Zack Greinke isnt much for verbosity, usually letting his pitching do the talking. Wednesday night, though, the Dodgers 147-million right-hander was happy to comment about his performance in the Dodgers 3-1 win over the Washington Nationals. It was fun, the former Cy Young Award winner said. OK, so its maybe more of an observation than a full-fledged, in-depth comment...

Greinke gets the win and RBI single

Before the game, two scouts were debating whether Dodgers right-hander Zack Greinke would risk swinging the bat in his return from a broken left collarbone. One expressed doubt, but the other, possessing a better working knowledge of Greinke, chuckled at the idea the pitcher would hold back. "He's got a bigger ego about hitting than he does about pitching," the scout...

Los Angeles Dodgers Activate Zack Greinke, Disable Josh Beckett

Injury Roll Call: Greinke’s comeback, A-Gon feeling pain, Elbert almost ready

Adrian Gonzalez and his neck strain still pose an issue for the Dodgers, as he can swing a bat without pain but can’t play the field or run without significant discomfort.
