O's activate Berken from DL, outright Mata

The Orioles made a pair of roster moves official on Thursday, reinstating reliever Jason Berken from the 60-day disabled list and outrighting reliever Frank Mata to Triple-A Norfolk.

Right-hander Frank Mata has been one of the Orioles' most steady relievers since making his Major League debut on May 26. He has pitched 6 1/3 innings in six appearances, giving up just one run, six hits and two walks while recording two strikeouts.

Relievers Castillo, Mata added to roster

The Orioles recalled Alberto Castillo and purchased the contract of Frank Mata prior to Tuesday's series opener against the Athletics. The pair of relievers will assume the roster spots vacated by Koji Uehara and Alfredo Simon, both of whom were placed on the 15-day disabled list.
