So over the last month, 182 hitters have had enough plate appearances to be considered “qualified.”
Matt Kemp’s first home run as a Padre came on April 18 -- 12 games into the season. He hasn’t hit one since -- that’s 26 games. He went 38 games between home runs last season from April 27 through June 12, and he still managed to hit 25 homers by the end of the year. Kemp seems unconcerned about his current drought, according to U-T San Diego:

It’s finally time and when I say finally, I really mean finally. We’ve all been waiting around for opening day AND IT’S NOW LESS THAN TWO DAYS AWAY. Padres’ fans can now stop making prediction after prediction about the upcoming season (which I’m completely guilty of) and actually start watching their predictions come true. (More like watch our dreams come true.)
The Dodgers are not happy with San Diego Padres GM A.J. Preller over the way the Matt Kemp trade unfolded. The Dodgers and Padres agreed to a trade with Kemp as the centerpiece exactly one week ago. Despite the agreement, the trade was not officially completed until late Thursday because of supposed concerns regarding Kemp’s...Read More
So, that huge Matt Kemp trade between the Dodgers and Padres? Yeah…it might not happen. The typically symbolic physical may actually present a huge problem for the Padres, because it’s revealed that Kemp has arthritis in both of his hips.

Over the last few days, this deal felt […]

Sources: #Dodgers continue to discuss trade of Kemp to #Padres. Grandal likely would be in package going to LAD, and SD would get $ in deal.

Everyone knows that the Los Angeles Dodgers have an abundance of outfielders. Three are young, inexpensive and talented (Yasiel Puig, Joc Pederson and to a much lesser extent, Scott Van Slyke). Two are older, expensive, and their value isn’t exactly high (Andre Ethier and Carl Crawford). And then, there’s Matt Kemp.
Kemp is somewhere in the middle...
Thanks to Russell Martin and Jonathon Broxton, the Los Angeles Dodgers are heading back to the postseason.
In an awesome coincidence, when former Dodger now Pittsburgh Pirate Russell Martin hit a game-winning three run home run against former Dodger now Milwaukee Brewer Jonathon Broxton, the Dodgers clinched at worst the second NL Wild Card spot.
Dodger players don’t seem too...
