PLAYERS: Chael SonnenJon Jones
ESPN had reigning UFC light heavyweight king Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen (pictured) run through their infamous “car wash” Tuesday, shooting interviews with nearly every show the network offers. While Jones didn’t issue much in terms of compelling statements, guess who did? That’s right, you can always count on Uncle Chael to deliver the one-liners. Sonnen pretty much unleashed the same shtick MMA fans have heard (over, and over, and over again) for years, but most of it’s new hype to the mainstream world. However, Chael. P did unleash some unheard material. “I’m the reason Waldo is hiding,” Sonnen claimed. Perhaps the best thing about this particular segment is Sonnen is asked only one question and he doesn’t even answer it. Sonnen challenges Jones for his throne Saturday at UFC 159. There has been so talk about this fight and a lot of trash talk. Mostly coming from the Sonnen camp, Chael is a throwback to P.T. Barnum, he is a barker who promotes himself very well. The big question on everyone’s mind is: Can Chael back up his boastful statements and actually beat the Light Heavyweight Champion in the form of Jon “Bones” Jones?... Read more

Sonnen showing new respect for Jones

Chael Sonnen was, well, more Chael Sonnen before he coached against light heavyweight champ Jon Jones on the recently concluded season of The Ultimate Fighter.
