One month ago, UFC President Dana White claimed middleweight king Anderson Silva (Pictured) will fight welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre AND light heavyweight champ Jon Jones at some point after he signs a 10-fight contract extension. During Friday‚Äôs UFC 157 fan Q&A session, White took his proclamation a step further by promising ‚ÄúThe Spider‚ÄĚ will face GSP or Jones in 2013.
‚ÄúGSP is gonna defend his title against Nick Diaz. Anderson Silva will defend his title this summer,‚ÄĚ White stated. ‚ÄúAnd before the end of this year, we will soon see a super-fight with either GSP and Anderson Silva, or Anderson Silva and Jon Jones.
‚ÄúSo, one of them is coming.‚ÄĚ
Of course, the caveat is all three superstars must win their next scraps.
St-Pierre is up first. He defends his 170-pound crown against Nick Diaz March 16th at UFC 158. Jones meets Chael Sonnen in the Octagon’s following pay-per-view broadcast, UFC 159 on April 27th.
Silva, meanwhile, has been marinating since disposing of Stephan Bonnar in a light heavyweight affair this past October. The soon-to-be 38-year-old, who still hasn’t ironed out the final details for his unprecedented contract extension, is rumored to put his hardware up for grabs against Chris Weidman on July 6th.
Silva has dominated the middleweight class while sprinkling in three light heavyweight fights during his unbeaten run in the UFC. The Brazilian’s sporadic dabbling in the 205-pound division is why most thought a blockbuster bout with Jones had a greater possibility of coming to fruition than with GSP.
However, White revealed last week Silva is willing to shed the 15 pounds required to challenge St-Pierre for his throne. Silva hasn‚Äôt competed at welterweight since a disqualification loss to Yushin Okami at ‚ÄúRumble on the Rock 8.‚ÄĚ He weighed 174 pounds for that January 2006 contest.

What a night, what a fight. Liz Carmouche appeared to be on her way to shocking the world when she got on the champions back and started cranking her face. Like a true champion though, the "Rowdy" one would survivee the scare and eventually get to her comfort zone, the ground, where she yanked Carmouche's arm en route to her 7th straight 1st round armbar submission...
Tito Ortiz might be new to this whole manager thing, and he may not have made the right call in having star client Cristiane ‚ÄúCyborg‚ÄĚ Santos (Pictured) decline a contract offer from the UFC in favor of Invicta FC, but he sure does know how to keep Cyborg‚Äôs name in the headlines.
On Saturday night at UFC 157 when Ronda Rousey and Liz Carmouche became the first females to fight...
While most mixed martial arts fans remain flabbergasted over Jon Fitch‚Äôs (Pictured) unexpected release from the Ultimate Fighting Championship, UFC President Dana White offered up a simple explanation for cutting the former welterweight top contender ‚Äď Fitch‚Äôs price tag is far too high for what he‚Äôs been producing of late. And if it don‚Äôt make dollars, then it don‚Äôt make‚Ä...

Three days ago, UFC President Dana White promised either Lyoto Machida (Pictured) or Dan Henderson would get next dibs at the light heavyweight title.
