The much anticipated Frank Mir Strikeforce one-shot has just been put in the virtual mma recycle bin. MMAJunkie broke the midnight news that the former UFC heavyweight champion will be unable to fight Strikeforce Grand Prix heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier due to an undisclosed injury. Whether or not another UFC heavyweight will step up to replace Mir remains to be seen. A middleweight title bout between Luke Rockhold and Lorenz Larkin could be promoted to main event status if a replacement is not found to take on the undefeated Cormier. You can expect Tim Sylvia to be tweeting like a madman tonight looking to get back into the Zuffa mix. There are not many fighters on the current UFC heavyweight roster that do not have a fight scheduled at this moment. Former Strikeforce competitor Fabricio Werdum and Pat Barry are the only ones that come to mind. Stay tuned for more right here at hov-mma as this story develops.
