So, you're 13 fights in and there is already a buzz around Twitter that you may just be putting on the best mixed martial arts event of 2012 so far. The last thing you need is your main event of the evening to go the way of 'St. Pierre vs. Shields' and send everyone home with a sour taste in their mouth. Luckily for you, Shayna Baszler and Sara McMann came to scrap.

McMann fought smart, she fought hard, she didn't make any mistakes. That was until the last few seconds of the fight, where the Olympic silver medalist got wobbled by a left hook from Baszler that may have separated anyone else from consciousness. In the end it just wasn't enough, "The Queen of Spades" fell short and Sara McMann earned a title shot against an opponent yet to be named at Invicta FC 3 in October.

The judges scored this one 29-28, 29-28, and 30-27 for the victor. Anyone who watched the fight surely had a hearty chuckle at the 30-27 scoring. If there was any round that went to either fighter without argument it was the 2nd. Baszler dominated in every aspect of the stand up game, she went for multiple submissions putting McMann's knee and heel in jeopardy, she even passed McMann's guard. This is just another case of incompetent judging. The 1st and the 3rd could've went either way, the 2nd was all Baszler. We all saw what Shayna did though, and we look forward to seeing her back inside the Invicta cage. Coming off a loss, this is a fighter that is always just one win away from a title shot. I for one would love to see a rematch between these two sometime in 2013. This could just be the start of another beautiful and violent cage rivalry.
