The follow up fight card to what many mixed martial arts pundits have leading the way when it comes to event of the year honors just got another big fight. A Bantamweight tussle between former Strikeforce champion Sarah Kaufman and Invicta FC 1 fight of the night winner Kaitlin Young Invicta FC 3: Penne vs. Sugiyama. This fight will land on the main card of the October 6th event right before the Baszler vs. D'Alelio co-main event.
Kaufman is looking for a quick rebound from her 54 second loss to Ronda Rousey earlier this month in San Diego. After sharing fight of the night honors with Leslie Smith at the inaugural Invicta FC event, Kaitlin Young was submitted by United States Marine Liz Carmouche at Invicta FC 2. The addition of Kaufman vs. Young to an already stacked card that now boasts 14 fights is a very welcome one.
Kaufman will still remain on the Strikeforce roster. "Were just borrowing her for this event," Invicta FC President Shannon Knapp told Bloody Elbow's Stephanie Daniels in an interview conducted earlier today. A win over Kaitlin Young will bring Kaufman one step closer to what she believes is rightfully hers, that Strikeforce bantamweight title. A win for Young, well that would catapult her right into the thick of things at 135.
Invicta FC: Penne vs. Sugiyama will stream live and free once again over at the invictafc website on October 6th.
