Leslie Smith and Kaitlin Young made magic back at Invicta FC 1 this past spring. It was a rock em' sock em' affair that would help establish the promotion in it's very first event. There was only one problem. It ended in a draw. The solution, book a 2nd fight. It wasn't supposed to happen this soon though.
You knew it was inevitable that Smith and Young would get another chance to repeat the magic they created together inside of the Invicta cage in April. They are already being dubbed as the Griffin and Bonnar of Invicta, which is kind of a silly comparison but remember - MMA is still a very young sport for the men and women alike. History is being made everyday. So when Sarah Kaufman (Young's original opponent) was unable to compete due to injury, putting Smith in as a replacement was a no brainer. Establishing this rivalry between two fighters that aren't afraid to mix it from the opening bell in your promotions first year just cannot be a bad thing.
This time we would have a clear cut winner. But don't think for one second that we won't see a 3rd fight. The chemistry, and the disdain is just to good not to book it again. Check out the full fight video below.
