UFC lightweight favorite and future Hall of Violence inductee Joe 'Fight of the Night' Lauzon was a no brainer for the upcoming UFC on FOX Sports 1 debut on August 17th. It was just a matter of who would be blessed with the opportunity to share a bonus check with him. That man will be none other than TUF 12 finalist Michael 'The Menace' Johnson. On paper this is a gimme for Lauzon. Make no mistake about it, this is a match up, like his fight against Gabe Ruediger back at UFC 118 in Boston, that was made to get the hometown crowd buzzing for one of their all-time greats. The only difference between this contest and the Ruediger bout is that Michael Johnson could make this a dog fight. Win or lose, Lauzon's job is not on the line here. He's a UFC lifer that continues to fall just short of a title shot. Johnson on the other hand finds himself in a risk vs. reward situation. A loss against Lauzon would be his third in as many fights and could send him directly to the unemployment line. So why would Johnson take a risk like this against a man in Lauzon who enters this contest as a odds on favorite with the home cage advantage? It's simple. An upset victory for 'The Menace' over Lauzon in Boston would be a career defining moment. This my friends and enemies is one scrap that you will not want to miss. Just ask Mr. Lauzon himself.
