After reigning UFC light heavyweight king Jon Jones (Pictured) and Chael Sonnen fulfill their posts as opposing coaches on “The Ultimate Fighter 17,” they will collide inside Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
It was previously reported the 205-pounders would meet in Jersey, but a venue wasn’t announced until late Monday night.
East Rutherford’s IZOD Center, which most recently hosted “UFC on Fox: Diaz vs. Miller” in May, was also in contention.
Jones is no stranger to the Prudential Center. “Bones” became the youngest champion in UFC history by dethroning then-champ Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in the same arena in March 2011.
The Octagon has hosted three previous shows inside the Prudential Center – UFC 78 in 2007, UFC 111 in 2010 and UFC 128 when Jones officially became the baddest light heavyweight in bare feet.
No other bouts have been reported for the April 27th event.
