Less than 24 hours after discovering Shane Carwin was forced to withdraw from their December 15th scrap with a blown his knee, heavyweight Roy Nelson has been issued a new assignment. The UFC announced Thursday afternoon Matt Mitrione (Pictured) has agreed to step in and face Nelson at “The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale.” Mitrione is looking to bounce back from the first loss of his professional career. “Meathead″ dropped a lopsided unanimous decision defeat to Cheick Kongo at UFC 137. Nelson, meanwhile, has lost three of his past five contests, but is coming off a vicious knockout victory over Dave Herman at UFC 146. The 265-pounders were castmates on “The Ultimate Fighter 10.” Nelson took the 2009 tournament by knocking out Brendan Schaub in the finals. Mitrione was originally slated to battle Phil DeFries at UFC 155. No word on what the promotion’s plans for DeFries are. TUF 16 Finale takes place inside Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Here is the show’s revised roster: John Cofer vs. Mike Rio Johnny Bedford vs. Marcos Vinicius Reuben Duran vs. Hugo Viana Rustam Khabilov vs. Vinc Pichel Tim Elliott vs. Jared Papazian Nick Catone vs. T.J. Waldburger Dustin Poirier vs. Jonathan Brookins Mike Pyle vs. James Head Jamie Varner vs. Melvin Guillard Pat Barry vs. Shane Del Rosario TUF 16 welterweight finalist #1 vs. TUF 16 welterweight finalist #2 Roy Nelson vs. Matt Mitrione
