For the second time in nine months, Miguel Torres (Pictured) has been released by the UFC. The good news is Torres won’t be standing in the unemployment line anytime soon because the bantamweight already has his next gig lined up.
“I am writing this letter to inform you that as a result of my last loss, I was cut from the UFC,” Torres posted on his Official website. “My next fight will be in Hammond, Indiana for Titan Fighting Championship on November the 2nd. I am excited to continue fighting, to regain my focus and to get back to what made me a champion.
“I have dedicated my whole life to mixed martial arts and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. From teaching, to training, and fighting from the lowest to the highest levels, my passion in life is to be the best that I can be. Until November 2nd…”
Torres was briefly cut from the UFC this past December after issuing a controversial tweet about rape. The 31-year-old was granted a reprieve just 19 days later because he took the initiative to contact every rape crisis center in his home city of Chicago, Illinois after his release. Torres also made monetary donations at each facility and took rape sensitivity courses.
He was knocked out by up-and-comer Michael McDonald in his return to the Octagon.
Torres owns an impressive 40–5 professional mixed martial arts record. At one point during his career, he had rattled off 17 consecutive victories en route to capturing the WEC bantamweight title.
