Remember when Dana White was extra bald and extra shouty as he yelled something along the lines of, “The people want a superfight between Anderson Silva and Georges St-Pierre and I’m going to make sure it happens!” Well, it seems that I still have a better chance of providing my middle school with that Coke machine in the cafeteria that I promised all those years ago than the UFC President does of making this dream match come true.GSP was a guest on the Joe Rogan Experience earlier this week, and among other things he discussed the possibility of making this superfight happen, and he basically admitted that there’s the slimmest of chances if any.“I need to do stuff in my division before I take (a superfight) because it has moved now,” said St-Pierre. (Via MMA Weekly)He’s referring to the fact that the welterweight division is absolutely stacked right now, with Johny Hendricks doing everything short of challenging Cthulhu to get his title shot against the UFC Welterweight Champion, while Carlos Condit and Nick Diaz wouldn’t mind rematches against GSP as well. And on top of those guys, you’ve got Rory MacDonald waiting in the wings and young guns like Jordan Mein and Gunnar Nelson quickly making names for themselves. Some may argue Nelson’s name being mentioned here, but as I’ve made clear, my dream for him is to be the man who eventually takes GSP’s title as Nelson’s “Love and Affection” plays in the background, but that’s neither here nor there. But there’s a little more to it than just St-Pierre wanting to take on guys who are worthy and Nick Diaz.“Anderson Silva is very big. He’s 230 pounds. He’s a very big guy, walking around very big and I’m 190 pounds. It’s a lot of weight difference. If this fight happens one day, we’re going to have to decide what weight class and everything,” he said.“I don’t do a lot of cutting. It would be easier for me to go fight at 155 than fighting at 185. I would be more at my weight naturally. There’s guys at 155 that walk around 190 like me,” said St-Pierre. “They think I’m big because I have a large frame, but I’m not a big guy. I’m not thick.”“If he wants to make 170, I weigh 170, and he can (come down to) 170, that’s fine,” said St-Pierre.I don’t really give a poop if the superfight happens or not, as long as Hendricks is next in line for a title shot. And, you know, it’s not 5 rounds of GSP laying on top of him.The post More Like Pooper Fight: Georges St-Pierre Probably Won’t Ever Face Anderson Silva appeared first on With Leather.

With Anderson Silva Superfight Looking Less Likely, Georges St-Pierre Getting Johny Hendricks ‘Soon’

It appears Johny Hendricks is inching closer and closer to scoring the elusive title fight he’s been rightfully clamoring for. On Thursday, UFC president Dana White said the promotion is planning to have him challenge welterweight king Georges St-Pierre (pictured) in the very near future.  It is becoming crystal clear that GSP wants no part of a blockbuster bout with UFC middleweight...

What the GSP/Silva/Jones Situation Has Taught Us

Even stranger than the idea of three unbelievably dominant UFC champions competing at the same point in history is the idea that each champion would only need to move up or down one single weight class to fight one of the only three people in the promotion who wins as much as he does. Just like there aren’t any welterweights who seem to have what it takes to defeat long-time...

Behind-the-Scenes Video of UFC on FUEL TV 9

UFC president Dana White (pictured) took an extended break from his video blogs up until earlier this week, so it’s only right he came storming back with two vlogs leading into Saturday’s UFC 159 pay-per-view broadcast. White’s latest clip features behind-the-scenes footage from UFC on FUEL TV 9. For the most part, the video offers the typical fighter disappointment, jubilation...

I don’t think you will find two better talkers than Stone Cold Steve Austin and Chael Sonnen. The worlds of WWE and UFC recently crossed when Austin had Chael on his podcast. According to Sonnen, their paths may have crossed sooner.

Dana White Won’t Strip Dominick Cruz of UFC Title, Unless…

Last month, UFC president Dana White said he was going to have a chat with injured bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz (pictured) regarding his never-ending road to recovery.  White wasn’t planning on stripping Cruz of his title, but wanted to get a better understand of when his 135-pound king was hoping to return to action from knee surgery. It appears their meeting went very...

UFC 159: Five rounds

The fact that the UFC 159 media gathering took place at Madison Square Garden on Thursday wasn't by chance. MSG remains a target -- even if the chances have dimmed -- to host the UFC 20th anniversary. First, the state needs to finally legalize professional mixed martial arts. A bill that would pave the way for the fight targeted for later this year has passed the senate and...
