Rumor has it that current UFC welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre has been cast as Captain America nemesis Batroc the Leaper in the 2014 release Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and if you ask MMA fans, the casting director couldn’t have chosen a more appropriate person for the role. Batroc, according to Wikipedia, has “no superhuman abilities, but is in peak physical condition in every respect. He is an Olympic-level weightlifter and has extraordinary agility and reflexes. His leg muscles are particularly well developed enabling him to leap great distances equal to an Olympic athlete. He is an expert hand-to-hand combatant and specializes in savate (French-style kickboxing). He is also a skilled military tactician, having formerly been in the French Foreign Legion.” The villainous Batroc is also bilingual in English and French, as is St-Pierre, and is an experienced thief and smuggler, two things that, so far as anyone knows, GSP has not dabbled in. Latino Review broke the news of GPS’s involvement in the film, via an exclusive scoop from a source within Marvel Entertainment… Just got off the phone with my Marvel source who gave me an Exclusive scoop… I’ve been told that mixed martial artist and current UFC Welterweight Champion, Georges St-Pierre aka GSP has been cast in Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”. GSP will play one of the villains, Batroc the Leaper!!! St-Pierre definitely has the prerequisites required to play Batroc the Leaper, and despite his MMA career, still has a relatively unblemished face and movie star good looks to hold his own against the uber-handsome Chris Evans, aka Captain America. How GSP does acting wise remains to be seen, but don’t be surprised to see any critic that gives his acting ability less than favorable reviews to be on the receiving end of a GSP spinning kick. Jonathan Papelbon still wants out of Philly

I feel like I’ve written a version of this headline about five times over the past year, but it’s really only been four. My apologies. Anyway, as we roll along towards the All-Star Break and the trade deadline, lone Philadelphia Phillies All-Star Jonathan Papelbon is reiterating his desire to be traded to a contender before the end of the month. Kyrie Irving: Cavaliers would have won an NBA title if healthy

There’s no arguing that losing Kyrie Irving hurt the Cleveland Cavaliers against the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals. But would Irving have been the difference between losing a series in six games and winning a title? He seems to think so. During a recent appearance on The Big Podcast with Shaquille O’Neal, Irving...Read More

Are LeBron, Cavs just playing teenage games?

Follow us on Twitter @CrossoverNBA We all knew a few of them growing up. Odds are, you know a few of them now too. They’re the folks that crave some sort of drama, controversy, and say things like, “I try to avoid it, but it finds me.” It’s a mildly rough way to live, it’d seem like. Which brings us very quickly to the Cleveland Cavaliers and Lebron James. Whatever...

Bucks president threatens move to Vegas, Seattle

Everything seems to be headed in the right direction for the up-and-coming Milwaukee Bucks. Fresh off a playoff appearance this past season, Milwaukee was able to add a top-end free agent in the form of Greg Monroe to an already talent-laden roster. Unfortunately, politics in the state of Wisconsin could potentially dampen the good feelings around the organization in recent months...

ESPYs golf classic moving from Trump course

Presidential candidate and business mogul Donald Trump is losing supporters left and right (pun intended) after making controversial remarks claiming Mexico sends people over to the United States who have “lots of problems.” ESPN is the latest faction to separate itself from Trump. The injuries to Jason Pierre-Paul as a result of his fireworks accident may not be life-threatening, but they may have some serious consequences. Report: Spurs sign David West

There were rumors that David West might sign with the Cavs just days ago. Alas, rather than come to Cleveland the veteran power forward has chosen to go, well, west, as he has signed a one-year contract with the San Antonio Spurs for the veteran’s minimum, worth about $1.4 million. West opted out of his contract with the Indiana Pacers, which would have paid him $12 million this...

Report: Marc Gasol signs five-year deal with Grizzlies

In the least surprising news of the free agency period, Marc Gasol has reportedly re-signed with the Memphis Grizzlies on a five-year, $110 million max deal. Manu Ginobili announces he will return next season

The San Antonio Spurs have been having quite the offseason so far. On Monday, it just got a little better. Manu Ginobili took to Twitter Monday afternoon to announce that he will return to the team for the 2015-16 season. The 37-year-old Argentine guard played in 70 contests last season, coming off the bench in all of them. He played 22.7 minutes while averaging 10.5 points, 3.0...
