For the third time in less than five months, featherweight Nam Phan (Pictured) will take his talents to the Octagon. On Wednesday, it was announced the Vietnamese-American will face Jim Hettes at UFC 141 this New Year’s weekend.
Phan dropped a unanimous decision to Mike Brown in August, but he managed to follow that up with a decision win of his own over Leonard Garcia at UFC 136 in Houston. That thrilling battle allowed him to avenge his highly controversial split decision loss to Garcia at “The Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale” last December.
Hettes owns an unblemished 9-0 record and easily disposed of Alex “Bruce Leeroy” Caceres in his big league debut at “UFC on Versus 5.” All nine of Hettes’ victories have been of the submission variety.
UFC 141 takes place December 30th inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. A heavyweight top contender bout between Brock Lesnar and Alistair Overeem headlines the pay-per-view broadcast.
